so is this 98cc or 135cc? been tempted to get a petrol mower as this summer the grass is always to damp to mow with the electric one, would this make a lot of difference?

Not too fussed about engine size but not sure if it self propelled as it doesn't say it in the title like some other tesco brand ones do, but does in the description- which seems to have been copy and pasted from a more expensive model......
Anyone got clarification......!

I've got a 100cc self-propelled one and it is sooo much easier than electric. Not having to flick the cable out of the way for one and no risk of running over it*, oodles of ummph and it drags me round the garden rather than me have to use any effort pushing it. The only problem is the fuel costs - it is a lot more expensive to use than electric.

*OK, the leakage trip will trip but each time that happens the cable gets shorter..

in the reviews someone mentions this and says they have 2 but it is not self propelled but still says its great, hope that helpful

sorry to hijack this but the self propelled one is here and also the £10 off code
hotukdeals.com/dea…182

i currently use a 10yr old mountfield that still works great but having read reviews and paying £48.50 (£10 off + £3 delivery) can't go wrong!

try code; TDXR-VMTK

worked for me, "we haven't seen you for a while" email

re above, self propelled mowers need a big garden or your constantly stopping it to turn

code wont work for me unfortunately

Yeah thanks chuckles. Ordered the £75 self propelled one with the £10 New Customer discount =£65 (had to use the wife's email address as already used the code on my account when buying a bargain LED tv from them the other week!)
Hopefully as its in her name she might feel obliged to use it?????

No. Its a cheepo Chinese engine which should just about last the warranty period. Possibly a Bliggs:D

Certainly appears to be....if you use the zoom function on the photo on TESCO link you can see the Briggs&Straton logo on the engine.
Brilliant engines. I have been using mine for 12 years now with little maintenance.

There is a voucher code for £10 0ff £50spend for new customers

Personally from looking at it I wouldn't have thought it was a Briggs and Stratton, it's either a DG350 or DG450, not made by B&S

I bought one of these last summer. The non self-propelled version. The deck was more of a dark green than the torqouise shown in this picture but other than this the picture is apparently identical.

You might note from the picture that there is no sign of any throttle/speed control so the one pictured is almost certainly not self-propelled.

Cracking mower for the money. Engine usually starts first/second pull and very light to move around.

Neither my machine or the one in the piccy shows any sign of the engine being a Briggs, cheapo chinese jobby but so far very capable and frankly puts my qualcast cylinder mower to shame.

Critisism's: When you try to set the blade low, the deck tends to foul the ground and keeps digging in to the ground at the front edge. Take care to avoid stones because the deck doesn't look too bulletproof.

Other than above, fantastic value for money imho.

EDIT: Just noticed the other tesco post for the self-propelled for £20 more.
Looks like the SP model has a steel deck (better) and quick release folding handles too (better). I would probably pay the extra just to get those features even if I didn't use the SP.

just tried the code TDX-KPHM and £10 off.

where do u get it has a metal deck from ? thought these were plastic?

I think the self-propelled has the metal deck as it is much heavier than the model the OP is linking to.

I wouldn't buy anything on the strength of what it shows in the photo.Tesco's are well known for putting the wrong photo with the wrong description and vice versa.

Great value - just passed on the details to my daughter who might be in the market for a new one.

Good price

Don't think it's self propelled think blurb is wrong.

Just ordered one, very good price, thanks for posting.

Voucher works for £10 off £50 spend @ Tesco Direct. Petrol mower for £45? I'll have some of that action. Ty op.

The self propelled version is £20 dearer

tesco.com/dir…074

Lol how much HP does the motor make? Even two of these would be too slow for a cheapo go kart right? Hmm...then again maybe it's more bulletproof than those Honda 4.5hp ones! Or not.

Word of warning, I have a cheapo Tesco plastic electric one, looks the same as mine, but with a petrol engine. It is 1 yr old and I am surprised that it is still going as it really is a piece of junk. When turning the plastic chassis/cover bends and deforms some times and the blade digs into the soil. In other words you pay for what you get. I only bought it as it was on offer with a strimmer which I sold on Ebay, so it cost me about £18 in the end.

Note, the handle slots into the main unit, held in by one screw each side. This will probably fail first, when it does, there is no way to repair it

Looks like someone is selling a used one on ebay, I am going to see how much it goes for

petrol mowers are far far better than electric ones. however be aware that cheap petrol mowers are often unreliable and a pain to start. mind you £55 is cheap - then again id rather pay £20 extra for the self propelled one

This one on the B&Q site looks like the same mower or am I wrong?

diy.com/nav…025

direct may be out but these are the same price instore. there are currently 3 in preston homeplus, worth checking your local if you want one. i have just got one-they are decent, very sturdy!

I think the one at B&Q is the same or very similar @ £109.99..ordered mine through quidco plus used the code to get a tenner off so £45.50 .

They now seem to be out of stock on both models.

I ordered this one and when i rang up to change the store to collect it from they told me it was cancelled, how nice of them to actually email and tell me!!!
