Please disguss what you mean?
without doubt the smallest packed tomatoes ever, cheaper to buy loose vine from lidl, that is how small they are - typical Tesco and of course the Tiny on offer Pineapples which again are awful - incredibly expensive in real terms and pretty poor quality yet people are so easliy fooled by the headline price

Just poor tasteless dry tomatoes. Good price for them though. It's odd they get called salad tomatoes though, that's where I use the best ones. I got some of these and I'll throw them in a curry or just make a paste.

Salad tomatoes are great for people that hate the taste of tomato.

they should have started calling them:

"Throw it on someone, Tomatoes"
"Youtube Prank goes horribly wrong Tomatoes"
"Michelin 5* Tomatoes, but it's not"
"You'll hate them, Tomatoes"
"Guess the taste of this vegge, Tomatoes"
"Even Pigs won't eat em, Tomatoes"

The Sainsburys salad tomatoes have to be the worst ones ever. Personally I'd rather use a nice ripe and juicy "vine" tomato in a salad rather than these hard bitter things.
Tasteless
All I'd say is, if you go to your local Greengrocer in mid February, you'll probably be able to get U.K. grown tasty Tomatoes now.

Technology has moved on.

Grown on the vine? As opposed to being grown off the vine?

I do find that Tesco's tomatoes are generally far better than any other supermarkets for taste. Their vine ripened tomatoes at £1 are usually great. But these salad tomatoes are a product at a price point that doesn't compare to the wider range - a bit like the old French golden delicious in the 1970s that were neither golden or delicious.
