eewwwww!!!!!

If they are selling for a pound, how much goes to the people who make these?! What conditions do they have to work in? Can they afford to feed their children, or are the clothes made by children? Take a look at the websites of ActionAid, Labour Behind the Label, Oxfam and War on Want. According to Actionaid, workers in Bangladash get as little as 5p-an-hour for 14-hour days.

Hot, even if it's just for the image :whistling:

The cost of living isn't the same as other countries, and at least they're not out of work.

So you think 70p for a 14-hour day, to use Actionaid's example, is OK?

The point is that the lower prices get, the more the overseas workers are forced to work longer hours for poverty pay as they struggle to house and feed themselves and their families.

We COULD pay a few pence more and allow the people who make our clothes to earn a living wage. Why don't we do that?

With those sort of morals you could argue anything. It's okay to graffiti, fly-tip or mug people because if you don't, others will.

There ARE things we can do because we are the ones with the spending power! Don't spend our money on exploitation. Buy Fairtrade. Write to stores to complain about exploitation of workers. There was a campaign against Gap a few years back resulting in them introducing factory inspections and whilst they are not perfect, it was a big step forward.

No, I don't. However, the lower the prices, the lower the margins, the more pressure on reducing workers' conditions.

Anyways to all who think they are morally better than everyone else YOU ARE NOT cos no doubt your typing it on a cheap computer that is wasting loads of energy.

Also what are you doing on a site looking for bargains if your opposed to slave labour you cannot be serious

Thought I looked pretty good - heading back to buy some more.
