Tesco - Up To Half Price Bikes

Found 23rd Jul 2016
Tesco Summer Sale. Up to half price on a range of bikes, including quite a lot for kids. With the weather recently, not a bad shout if you want to get your kids out doing some exercise over the Summer Holidays.

Most of their cheap bikes are complete junk and if you want to get young/people to go biking then consider it an investment and get a more reliable sturdy bike for a bit more
Plenty sold off by police / car boots & even one off eBay represent much better value

completely agree, why would a kids bike require a heavy and useless rear shock. most won't even need front suspension. Gumtree and a second hand lightweight bike is a far better way to go.

To be honest I think a break is always likely to snap away.

They are being facetious, it's spelt 'brake'.
My daughters last bike came from there, she could never change the gears (and I got blisters trying to improve/repair them) until I replaced them with revoshifts, thats the only bad thing I could mention.
I've got a cheap bike her name's Catherine

And lever!
Alll the bikes listed in the offer look poor value. Nothing to see here really. I've bought bikes from Tesco and they were great value including the Vertigo Carnaby for £65 which was a geniune offer but these bikes don't merit their original retail prices at all. Even discounted they look either at normal price or even slightly above normal pricing for the spec.
a lot of complaint here but no alternative given. Interesting.... I wonder if anyone here actually own a bike?

1. Islabike
2. Frog Bike
3. Hoy

Pricey but you pay for quality, Islabikes hold they value and 2nd hand retail is available on trading sites as well as FB.

There are lots of alternatives but hard to know where to direct people to without knowing what sort of bike they are after. Decathlon do some good cheap bikes as do Halfords and Argos occasionally.

Saw this on ebay. A basic steel commuter bike that was quite cheap.

This is a bit like someone posting a deal on a Fiat, and you coming along saying "just buy a Ferrari"....

Really annoys me when a deal is posted and someone pops up saying "Hey, just spend hundreds more and the quality will be better!" Tell us something we don't know... (_;)

These Tesco bikes are cheap and cheerful, yes - but for someone on a budget, or with a son like mine who only occasionally rides his bike to the local park (he's addicted to his scooter most of the time), they are fine.

Cheap but utter rubbish (at least most of them)
