Was in Tesco today and noticed they had large 2.27 kg bags of frying chips for 60p.Price looks like a regular price (not reduced) so should be nationwide offer.May not be healthiest choice but tastier than most oven chips.

Yes I got some yesterday. Heat +

YUK !!

Looks like a regular price... So standard price? So no deal?

If it's a deal in comparison to what other companies are offering then it's a deal.

But it's standard price

If it saves someone going to Asda and paying £1.40 then it's a deal even if it is standard price.

Are these made from free range potatoes?

fattyuk

But it's standard price

Granite chopping board in pound land for, yup you guessed it - £1.

Normally around £1.20 in my Tesco's, don't normally buy chips but I did buy these once as I just wanted some cheap chips and most were sold out. Thought I had bought oven chips so just chucked them in the oven and hey presto they tasted OK....

Why do the food snobs even visit this site ?.

All the cheaper foods that come up just get slated for no other reason than they cant get better for more money. IF you don't like, don't post.

nom, nom, nom.

These are quite nice although the Lutosa Frying Chips are better but a lot more expensive.

good deal though X) chippy chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips

I used to work in one of the factories that provides Tesco/Sainbury etc their chips, it paid my way whilst being a student.

I make my own chips and wouldn't ever ever buy them.

Not my cup of tea, BUT, in these tough times, at least we are able to choose our chips from a budget price of 30p for 1kg, to £3 a kg !

Happy with Icelands £1 for 1.8kg - decent quality as well.

Cooking a "romantic dinner" with any kind of chips is doomed to failure unless you're dating a ladychav.....In which case just turning up would guarantee "afters"......

These chips are fantastic -- really really tasty, though not so great if you cook according to their instructions.

I recommend 3-4 minutes on about 140C. Left them out, then turn the deep fryer upto 190C. Once at temperature, cook for another ~3 minutes. They'll come out perfectly crispy but really soft on the inside.

60p for this lot is a bargain!

That's Fathers Day sorted!

2.27 Kg for 60p , this is amazing. This is cheaper than raw potato. How do they manage to sell 2.27kg potato for more than £1.50.

The whole aim to feed junk food to people at cheap prices and make them obese

You can get 5kg of potatoes in Aldi for £1.59 I think, so not THAT cheap really...

Good if you buy chips I guess!!

Why not? Are they processed that much? Aren't they just cut potatoes? Do I want to know?

just because something is cheap doesnt make it a great deal..these chips are truly rank..made the mistake once of buying them, they are not worth 1p!

and if you actually have a frier, bloody make your own with potatos! They taste infinitely better, and are just as cheap..peel them..chip them..wash them to get rid of the starch..fry them at a LOW temp until they are soft...then let them cool down..then fry them at HIGH temp for 2 mins to crisp..perfect home made chips!

Heat given for cheap chips, but myself I would rather eat oven cooked worms than these !
McCain simply gorgeous chunky chips are lush tho !

Great a degree in chip making? You might owe 25 grand, but i bet your chips are fantastic.

these are good done in the actifry when in a hurry!

I just love the reply..."i used to work in a factory that made these""and i would never ever wear, eat, drive, them",then add your preference... chips, beans, chicken nuggets, turkey twizlers, maltesers, ford cars,underpants......and so on.......

And for that very reason i have voted Hot & Crispy

You need to run a-lot once you eat this

heat added, ok these might not be everyones cup of tea, but we did use to eat these when we had no money years ok and they were ok, for 60p it's a good back-up for the freezer for when you don't want to cook
