Tesco have hit a large chunk of their Whisky range with the Bargain Hammer and now they have a pretty great selection for someone wanting to pick up a decent single malt for around £25. Kinda feels like xmas has come early this year! Prices I saw include:

Cardhu Gold Reserve: £25
Highland Park £25
Laphroaig Select: £25
Glenfiddich 12yr: £25
Singleton Spey Cascade: £25
Talisker Skye: £25
Isle of Jura Origin: £25
Aberlour 10yr: £22
Aberfeldy 12yr: £28
Ardberg: £37
Glenmorangie 10yr: £26 (Still £1 cheaper at Sainsbury's at the moment)
Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold: £25 (Same price in Asda, this has been available around this price for a while so it seems like it will stick until all bottles are sold.)

Also some great prices on non-malts:

Woodford's Reserve: £23
Gentleman Jack: £25
Bulleit Bourbon: £22

All prices are available online and it looks like Amazon are price-matching some of these as well. I know Cardhu Gold Reserve is going for £25 at the moment I type.

Whisky newb tempted by the prices? I recommend tyou start with Bulleit Bourbon or Woodford's if you want to ease your way into Bourbon, but for single malts I would go with Cardhu Gold Reserve (known for its smoothness) and Highland Park (because it's very, very nice).

Sainsbury's are also selling Old Pultney 12yr for £25, another fantastic choice for single-malt starters!

Looks like Amazon are matching these prices, if you prefer.

Thanks for that... think I may go for Talisker

AS OP suggested both Bulleit and Woodford, I'd confirm woodford.
One of my favorites and a very good one for the price

Unless I'm mistaken the Laphroaig select was suggested to me as one to avoid and I love their QC

You are not mistaken, Laphroaig QC is a fantastic whisky and Select is mediocre.

Yes, Talisker Skye at 45% , nice to loose some time.

Nothing wrong with the Laphroaig Select when taken on its own merits, although it's very different to the QC or the 10 yo so perhaps that's why it tends to suffer in comparison. Ultimately it's all a matter of individual preference of course.

highland park is very nice, sure it regularly comes up at £23 in Tesco though

+1 for Woodford's Reserve, a very nice tipple.

The Woodfords one is fantastic.

If it's of any interest, the Laphroaig QC is still £25 in ASDA. I picked up a bottle last week, and it was just a regular white shelf label so appears to be the normal price, though I can't quite believe it since it used to be £39?
The last bottle went down faster than any other whisky I've had.....

Might try the cardhu, still £38 on amazon, and can't bring myself to go to il'son asda.

Got a bottle of select I've not opened. What is so different to the QC and 10? Really enjoyed the QC, will wait for another £20 offer though

It's not that very long ago when many of the popular malts were hovering around the £20 mark in the supermarkets, yet they have all now managed to raise the prices so much that £25 is now considered a good deal, and all this when we have had quite a few years of almost zero inflation (allegedly).

YES! Glenmorangie and Woodford, time to stock up again. Also as a note I noticed this sale at my local tesco so bought some Talisker Skye. I enjoy whisky so figured I'd give it a shot. Stay away if you don't enjoy peat!! It was like drinking that crust you scrape from the bottom of the bbq at the end of the season.

Ugh, please don't call Bourbon 'Whisky'...

Someone had to say it.

Give in a go. You won't be disappointed bought a bottle the other week.

FYI if any Prime members are interested, Amazon are doing Bulleit again for £20, great price for a decent bourbon, comparable to Woodford's IMO.
