Tesco Whole Gressingham Duck (1.8-3kg) £3.99 Instore @ Tesco

Got a leaflet from Tesco earlier with whole Gressingham ducks advertised at just £3.99 a unit (Or duck). Weights vary between 1.8kg (Shot in childhood) to 3kg (The ones to look for).

Supposed to be £7.99 apparently, but were only £6 a couple of weeks ago (Because I bought one). At £3.99, roast it whole in some herbs and spices, put it with some new potatoes, green vegetables and mushrooms, or alternatively, chop the leg quarters and breasts off and shallow fry on the bone in szechuan (Mind the spelling) sauce and serve with flavoured rice and/or noodles (Or chips).

Absolutely lush and at, potentially as little as £1.33 per KG, well worth a try if you've never had duck.

AN IMPORTANT, SMALL WORD OF WARNING: Tesco online have listed this at £3.99 per KG, instore and in their catalogue, it is not listed as £3.99 per KG and very much implies that it is priced PER UNIT. I have done this trick before with Tesco with the duck breasts (Stickered at £6, but shelf label says £6 per KG, getting them for just over £2.30 a pack). This may call for going to customer service and having them check the labels of the duck, but if you're feeling brass, go ahead and do it, as it quite clearly states that it is £3.99 each on the label and although some may say Tesco are entitled to refuse to sell at this price, I've never known them to disagree when it is their own error.

Thanks. The note at the end may put one or two off, but I'm confident this site has devoted money savers that will spot the gaffe here. You cannot buy fresh duck at as little as £1.33 per KG (Rising to £2 odd (Can't do the maths))

Good deal. Plus you will get around 250g of quality duck fat to use on several meals worth of great tasting roast potatoes (worth approx' £2 and keeps in the fridge for 3 months). Oh and don't forget to give it a good forking before cooking it.

Thanks for the hint there marty-401.

Surely "shot in chickhood"?

i was in Tesco yesterday and it is 3.99/kg not 3.99/duck..

You can also get one for £6 in Sainsburys though it is not Gressingham! Cold because that person has no sense of flavour, probably tastebuds stung in childhood.:p

Who has no sense of flavour?

Quite sure £3.99 P/Kg not a whole duck!
