The fish was already cut in half but the two gents at the counter said they don't fillet it there. I guess it depends on the store because I did ask them nicely

I work at Morrison's as a fishmonger. And fillet any fish on request. I have never said no to a customer asking me to. I have probably filleted 20 salmon today. If they refuse to fillet it ask to speak to a manager shouldn't be telling you no it's the whole point of market street you prepare the fish. To the customers specifications.
Just got one from Morrisons. Only £5 a kilo there.
Unavailable to order at my place. Gutted.

Be that as it may, the promo wasn't live at my local store.

Cheaper at Morrisons, who are also more likely to fillet it for you! I guess it's good if you've only got a Tesco close to you though (and better than Sainsburys attempt at £7/kg)

Fair enough. It was on at mine and I got 2 (£18 and £20) plus they cleaned and filleted everything

Tesco were filleting everyone's salmon today at my local they were very nice about it too
£5.00kg in morrisons

Don’t believe all the nonsense propaganda about farmed salmon. Honestly right now wild stocks are at there lowest ever - buying wild is the wrong choice
They are sending pre packed whole salmon to non counter stores from today so if you haven’t got a counter you can still get whole salmon
In Morrisons it's £5 per kilo

Think you will find its not really nonsense, for a start farmed salmon is not good for you, and the farming process is not helpful to the environment as well. Please do your own research instead of spouting nonsense.
Ega_Hacass18/12/2019 21:44

It is not if from Norwey.

just wondering, what wrong with Norwegian salmon? I would have thought their seas, farmed or not farmed be much better then our shores

They are basically swimming round in a packed pen full of other salmon, sh1t, lice and antibiotics. When you buy whole salmon you will lose about 1/3 of the weight by the time they remove the head, tail and spine so it’s more like £8 per kilo of edible salmon. I prefer buying the pre packed sides of salmon when on offer.

For a Christmas treat, you should consider buying the wild salmon from the fish counter. It is a vastly superior product..
dimon7218/12/2019 11:18

Norwegian?

Clearly states 'Farmed in U.K., Scotland, Norway'

Don't eat too much of this frankinstein food

That's good to know,. I stopped getting fish from our local Morrison's, because they also refused to fillet our fish when we asked - so, we weren't to Tesco, and they had no issue with our request (remove head and tail, descale, and cut into fillets)
There's something fishy about this deal...

Perhaps the fishmongers were off sick or something similar? From my experience at Morrisons the fishmonger counter is very good. There's a reason they had that fancy advertising campaign when they introduced 'market street' - properly trained fishmongers, butchers etc.

Don't know about the first part but certainly after discarding the head, tail etc there's not a lot of salmon left and some of the fish aren't that big to start with
