I only found out about this the other day when my son brought an Orange back from our local store. Usually, we have our shopping delivered so was unaware but it's been around since May...!

I used to get my shopping delivered, how is it lush! I didn't have a car and £1 delivery is far cheaper than a taxi and much easier than carrying loads of bags on a bus, still same prices as instore you just pay a small fee for delivery, which usually is cheaper than bus fare or taxi fare.

Are you for real, its no more expensive then going in to the store, I get a delivery pass for £5 a month, you most probably spend that on petrol getting there.
Its a shame they dont do free beer for adults as you shop

Shame, would be great if the others followed suit, maybe try a selection of veg.
Wow, this is news to you. You must be a bit of a yuppie. Been in my local store for ages, the kids love it, and are encouraged to pick some.

Hey far from it, just easier to get the shopping delivered, convenience and all that..
My girls 4 & 7 always give up on the fruit half way round. Leaving me to eat it to disapproving looks!

So what's the deal
I think it's great they do this, unfortunately our local only puts out super green bananas. My daughter won't eat bananas anymore after the last plantain like one she had

Most of my life we did as well, call it what you like, just fortunate that I can now afford it.

One piece of free fruit for a child, usually a choice of banana, apple or orange and a bag for your waste.

Can't please everyone, not when it's about 'their' world.
In my local Tesco they put the free fruit in a basket for kids to help themselves, it's a shame that the fruit they put in the basket hasseen better days!
Such a great idea. First thing my daughter does when we go to Tesco is grab a fruit. It's just a shame they don't always have it topped up.
Fruit rulez ok!
Lol. Nothing new.
Tesco Carrickfergus is great, always lots of bananas, apples and small oranges... just brilliant ... although the staff say that some folks present themselves at the check-out with their kids holding hands full of fruit expecting to take it home for free!!!
I shop at Waitrose and give my 5 year old the free coffee as I shop. Much better deal...a banana costs about 20p whereas the coffee is worth about £2.

Fruit!!! Why not give out chocolate or something kids actually like.
one of the perks of having Octuplets, you never have to pay for a bunch of bananas at Tesco.

Is it really a supermarket's responsibility to encourage healthy eating? That is down to the parents that had the brat.

It would save having to open the multipack of crisps and hiding the empty packets around the store before reaching the checkout right?!?
Thanks Tesco! You're prices are sky high on most things but a piece of fruit makes all the difference!

The baskets that the fruit is in will being crawling with e.coli. wouldn't touch the apples but bananas would be OK I guess.
Been at my Tesco for over a year it's great intact my 2 year old now shouts mommy banana as soon as we get into the store as he knows he's getting fruit to eat while we shop lool.

Not to mention all the money you save by not buying snacks that you dont need like Oreos or toffee popcorn. Costs me 7 quid a month for deliveries but I easily save twice that by not buying unnecessary crap!

It's the value that is the problem for me. I find Tesco quality is extremely variable and as you say high prices. It does not surprise me considering the difficulties the CEO Dave Lewis was presented with when he joined. They will write books about what went on
They haven't seen my kids yet, otherwise they would've stopped it already.
You could throw any fruit at them and they would just breath it in.
Maybe the only fruit some kiddies get - so every little helps!

Well done Tesco.
Empty or a bit of rancid bin ready fruit. Another ploy to get you in the door

Yes im sure your kids "always give up on the fruit" and "leave you to eat it". 😁 haha
Look at Jerome Valeska chompin a banana before terrorising Gotham!!
This can only be a good thing. Thanks OP
