Not played it, however, watched a video where the developers got a Tetris expert to play it to see how he would cope in VR compared to a normal game, and after getting used to it a little he was absolutely smashing it, more so then a normal game of tetris.

Looks absolutely fantastic and a must-play for tetris fans.

Edit: This is the video, for anyone interested:

It's not free to play, it's a demo
Unbelievable in VR well worth a play. Heat from me
Free trial is available now, I just had a go in VR and it was quite an experience! Was gonna wait till it drops below 20 quid but apparently it's 25 percent off this weekend so might have to bite.

It's just the first 3 levels right?

I've just played it, never thought it'll still be as addictive as ever. Nice music too.

Interesting watch. Can’t believe he kept instructing the master on how to get out of trouble as though he was a rookie.

You're welcome
Playing has confirmed that I'm not paying over £20 for this (though I'd definitely like to keep playing). Part of me thinks it should have been £20 RRP.
This is coming from someone who adores Rez, to the point that I even tried to like Child of Eden, and enjoys Lumines despite it not being a particularly mechanically satisfying game.

Not a huge fan of the soundtrack, but as a jaded old fan of electronic music, it's pretty hard to please me. That said, 2 of the 4 tracks are godawful.
Stage 1 sounds great until it gets going, then it sounds quite a lot like Chvches to me, and isn't something I want to enjoy. Sadly it's growing on me.
Stage 2 sounds like The Lonely Island if they weren't aware that it was all a joke.
Stage 3 is... psytrance? Why?
The 4th track you can select in marathon mode is great, sounding a but Steve Reich-y, up until 100 lines where it too turns into disappointing EDM. At least by that point I'm struggling not to lose the game.

I grabbed that straight away and it's fantastic, more than happy paying £25 for that, yet £35 for Tetris seems a bit mad even with some sparkly effects, the constant praise and the new reduced price is making me wobble now though.....will test the demo this weekend to see what the fuss is about.

Worth paying £25 then? ive been thinking about it but there is no demo to try it
Boom Tetris for Jeff
Good game do recommend
They can dress it up anyway they want, its still Tetris and its boring
Was super excited to play this finally but left underwhelmed. The VR experience was good but not fantastic. If your a fan of tetris then its worth the £25, if not wait till it drops to 10/15 squid
I've been wanting to try this as I loved Tetris as a kid 👌👌
Thanks for the heads up. Missed the demo last time
I thought the VR would somehow add extra depth and play mechanics to it but nah... just normal Tetris with some decent visual and sound effects. £10 and I might get it. Beat Sabre is far superior than this.

I tried it and its just a demo, 3 levels.. thats it...

Yeah, I feel tricked - I read "fully playable" and time limited and thought I'd be getting more than the same three stages. I was envisioning playing multiplayer with friends and getting into it, but instead it's... okay, played for an hour, it's okay, and, delete.

No regrets at all for me, if you like rythm action games I feel it's one of the best ever. Never got on with dance mats but 2 light sabers and I feel like a pro. I only really play party mode and battle the family for top spots on the leader boards, gave up on the campaign when I had to limit my hand movements it annoyed me. Great game though, don't forget you need the move controllers.
thank god for free trials, game is garbage. I would of thought in VR the game would be all around you somehow but its basically 2D tetris with 360 (ish) effects which don't influence the game at all. I would say if you are into Tetris and must have it in VR then wait till it drops below a tenner. Can't see it taking too long
It's absolutely fantastic.
Had an afternoon to myself yesterday and was going to go on RDR2 but ended up playing this for hours

Beat saber is great. It's not a puzzle game like this, of course. And it's not as rhythm timing based as something like guitar hero. But it is very satisfying, great original songs, great use of the move controllers (which are essential), and accessable to all - will be one of those games you have non-gamers enjoy too.
It's basically the 'go to' vr game now as it's always in arcades too...they have it in Blackpool at I think £2 a pop if you're close and really need to try before you buy.
I've searched for tetris on the store and can't find this?

Edit

Followed the link. Had to do pw reset...

it's blooming pretty and the music is really immersive but it's still just tetris. i booted it up for a quick game earlier and was on for an hour but i can't see myself buying it till it's sub-£15 or on ps+
Brilliant game. If you combine this with the cd keys cheaper plan vouchers, you can save a few more quid
Enjoyable in VR but think I'll wait until it's sub £15, got enough games to play anyway.

Make sure you wear headphones as it really adds to the VR experience, saying that I was focusing so much on the blocks that I didn't really take much of the surrounding effects in but it was still pretty trippy.

Oh gods, I caved. I bought it. What kind of a person does that make me
I finally remembered to try it in VR this evening, and it looks way worse than I expected. I can never get past being able to see the pixels, and the blurriness of PSVR, with the exception of Rez Infinite which looks exactly as it should).
Despite the underwhelming VR experience I had an urge to buy, but went to play Rez instead. I think the resulting adrenaline made me buy Tetris Effect, so that plan didn't work out.

I'm also bitter that playing at a higher refresh rate in VR didn't magically make me better at Tetris.
Right, I take it all back, this game is great. Most of the music is really good, the effects are less distracting in VR and you can really get in the zone.
I thought the demo was amazing. Music is outstanding and so are the effects. Didn't have a problem with the blurriness either... looked fine to me compared to other psvr games. Only downside is I'm not very good at Tetris lol
I downloaded this and still haven't played it - hopefully they'll do another demo soon
Free to play Tetris... should hope so too!
Fab way to try - love the music - just waiting for it to come down in price 👌👌
I played it....funky and the soundtrack is amazing...please be aware your eyes will bleed..
It’s good, but no way full price. How the heck Eurogamer awarded this game of the year

Completely agree. It's nicely done but nothing special. I was about to buy it until I trialled it and realised the reviews were way overblown.

Did you play in VR or just normally? I should imagine it's simply not the same experience without a VR headset.

Haha, what on Earth were they thinking!? Courting controversy no doubt.

I played the entire campaign last night (admittedly I was up till almost 1am, and I switched down to beginner difficulty for the last 5 stages).
I found it a bit odd that they didn’t employ any of the weird game modes in the campaign. It was always 36 lines per stage, with the odd incredibly fast section.
I still have all the many other modes to check out, so maybe there’s another campaign I haven’t noticed.

I was playing in VR, which seems to be great for getting properly engrossed, and also makes it easier to see what’s going on behind all the visuals. BTW you have a lot of control over the visuals in the options: when playing on TV I found it useful to force the regular Tetris block colours.

Another way way to get properly into it while playing on TV is to turn it up really loud.
This is great!

It's worth about a fiver at most... but this is great!

Brilliant, been wanting to try this before dropping cash on it. Thanks!

If you are remotely connected with Tetris, there is no try, only do.

In VR. I'm not saying it was bad, it just didn't have the wow factor I had been expecting. Most of the time I felt like I was playing regular tetris, albeit with some nice effects.

At £10 I'd feel it was fairly priced.

Maybe expectations were too high and people got overly excited? I went into the demo thinking it was Tetris with nice effects and a good soundtrack and I wasn't disappointed! It is still Tetris at the end of the day and there's only so much you can do with falling blocks. You can't really make it revolutionary or mind blowing. I agree that the price point is too high. I wish there were some deals at £15-20

Agreed. Wasn't Astro Bot at all. Bought and am a little disappointed. Need to get baked and play it some time.
