Hi Premier, Good find IMHO. Spotted this in the flyer picked up on Saturday of last weekend. This seems to be a good buy. Tesco Extra was the cheapest that i'd found for a Video Sender similar to one of these @ £24.99 (or thereabout's). The Video sends without any problems however the RC function did not work reliably at all. Tevion kit is pretty good IMHO so worth trying one of these as a replacement to one bought from Tesco Extra.

Voted hot.

Not sure how much Aldi are charging for this but the last batch absolutely flew out of the door within minutes of the store opening.

Hi 1mmaker,

I have seen the video sender in Tesco too, but like MacNewbieInTraining says, they are £24.97 in my local store but my store is particularly tight and never seems to have the offers others have :-( I don't understand how when I thought prices were set by head office? Perhaps it's just a store special but the tight gits at my store think a 'reduced to clear' means reducing from £24.99 to £24.97!

Anyway, rant over; this set that is available online too:

Is this the set you saw reduced to £17.99? If so that is a very good deal.

As the XBOX 360 controllers are wireless it should be possible to play the xbox on any of your TVs using something like this. Anybody tried this?

The 360 controllers have a 30 foot range...so as long as you are within that range, then it should work okay.

Although, i have found in the past that wireless equipment i.e. controllers and routers interfere with the video senders signal really bad and you get all kinds of interference on the picture

Thats the ones, There are on a bid reduced stand in tesco dundee, just a small one though they are £24.99 in the main tesco extra.

Seems a bit crazy there are loads of things reduced in this tesco,

Like the Nerf Balls only £3.99
Crazy little football phones for £1.49 from £5.99

Cant remember much more but there is a full stand of reduced toys and electricals.

Will nip back in today and have a look

I assume that the video that is playing on one TV is transmitted wirelessly to the other TV, does this mean that when I flip a channel on TV1, the channel on Tv2 will also change?

Hi, I'd not posted how much this item is because Aldi are keeping this quiet. Think that they'll be competitively priced though.

Hi, That's right :-). Basically the video sender sends not only the video signal from your VCR/DVD/PVR etc but also relays the IR signal from the connected devices remote control from the video senders receiver back to the video senders transmitter (sounds back to front but that's what it does).

The Tesco one that i'd bought transmitted the video signal quite well however the remote control would not work reliably. Very infuriating needing to run back and forth to the connected device to change channels etc. Tried a similarly priced device from Argos and this wouldn't transmit the video nor IR signal.

There's an IR lead that contains three sensors (at a guess the Tevion unit is probably the same). One of these sensors needs to be placed immediately in front of your connected devices IR receiver (usually denoted by a small 'IR' logo).

Please correct me if i'm wrong but I think that the idea behind there being three sensors is for controlling three seperate devices via Remote Control, however at a guess you'd need to make sure that video signals are routed accordingly via SCART to ensure that they are transmitted via the video senders transmitter (usually connected via a SCART lead or adapter that plugs into a vacant SCART socket on the back of the device that you'd like to hook up to).

Don't suppose any of my local Tesco's have reduced their price further. Think the £24.99 or £24.97 (cannot remember which) is a clearance or special offer price already. The Tevion video sender for £19.99 seems to be a very good price and Tevion kit is generally quite reliable.

HTH.

Thanks for this. So the Tevion product is worth a try to avoid running back-n-forth to change channels etc

Does anyone know how many scart inputs it has ? I am guessing one (as per the Tesco version).

Also, can you get additional receivers, or would you just buy two sets ? Would one transmitter be able to send the output to two receivers i.e. one kitchen one conservatory ?

Cheers

Hi, Not sure how many scart inputs this product has but at a guess it's got 1-scart input. The one that i'd bought from Argos and Tesco had 1-scart input however I think that Argos do one's that accept several inputs (a lot more money though).

The additional receivers aren't available to buy seperately but there should be no reason why one transmitter cannot transmit to several receivers. If this product is like the Argos and Tesco one's there's a channel switch on both the transmitter and receiver also just in case one of your neighbours are transmitting on the same channel and there's interference (there are three-channels available. The Tevion is the same to the best of my knowledge).

An assumption has to be made that you're using one Remote Control only to control the device that's attached to the video sender transmitter i.e. one receiver only would be allowed to control the video sender transmitter otherwise one receiver is likely to conflict with the other if there are two receivers that are being used to channel hop etc.

Hope the Tevion is worth buying as do not want to have to spend in the region of £29.99 for one that does what it says on the tin so to speak from Argos. Chances are though that the one bought from there was a faulty unit and would otherwise have worked alright. The Tesco one was good in fairness but the Remote Control operability was very intermittent. Sometimes it'd work sometimes it'd not work.

Hope this makes sense.
Kind Regards.

These things rarely work with NTL/Telewest remote controls.

They send the picture and audio fine, but don't assume you will be able to switch Telewest channels from another room.

Do Aldi still not take credit cards?

i got one of these this morning, and while the video quality is pretty good, you do get some absolutely awful interference if you have any other wireless equipment nearby (ie, an xbox360 like me)

took some fiddling around to get the sky remote working, seems you have to use the first ir node on the wire, rather than the one on the end. wasn't explained very well in the manual, but its working now.

it comes with a ton of cables for connecting, but don;t expect the best possible picture as theyre all composite leads. i guess that's to do with bandwidth, etc.

Does the Aldi video sender work on the same channel frequency as a DigiSender
DG200.

The DigiSender DG200 frequency's are as follows:

Channel 1, 2.414 Ghz
Channel 2, 2.432 Ghz
Channel 3, 2.450 Ghz
Channel 4, 2.468 Ghz

Many thanks if you can help.:)

We have a philips video sender wireless thingy, however I can't use the wifi in my laptop when it's switched on

Aldi have now announced the price of this item: £389.99. Seems to be a good buy IMHO.

This product seems to be quite a good buy particularly as it allows for two devices to be connected to the transmitter (switchable via RC). All of the necessary cables are included for this. Not found another video sender at this sort of price that allows for two source devices to be connected.

HTH.

Yep, picked one of these up for myself over the weekend (last one in my local store).

As you say it allows 2 separate devices to be input yet it strangely allows 3 devices to be remotely controlled :?
( I might try a scart doubler to see if I can get all 3 devices working)

What persuaded me was also the fact that the receiver will output via rf (channel 36) as well as component/scart adaptor - great for my old tv in the bedroom that doesn't have any inputs except for rf.

Have you tried changing channels (switch is on the bottom of both transmitter & receiver boxes - make sure you set them to the same channel)- there's 4 to choose from.

It shouldn't make any difference - the remote signal sent back to the transmitter should send the same signal to each of the 3 IR nodes unless you have a faulty cable.

It doesn't seem to give each channel frequency, just that the 4 channels are in the range 2.4000GHz to 2.4835GHz so it seems they are probably different to the DG200

Remote feedback operates at 433 MHz

Many thx for looking Premier

Hi, Am pleased with this particular video sender however I can confirm that there is awful interference whilst using a wireless network connection nearby. Does anyone know whether there are any video senders on the U.K. market that do not interfere with WiFi?.

Thank you.

I got one of these, very happy with it. Anyone interested in selling me one of theirs if they were not happy with thier purchase?

If you find you have interference, change the channel of your WiFi. Most people leave theirs on the standard default (usually channel 6) change this to a higher channel like 11.
