But for the price, you can't find anything better than that

if its still here tomorrow i may well order thanks OP

you've been looking for a decent dining set for ages, then keep looking Oak veneer peels off
sent two back and got solid Oak Argos driver said they big pile of these all with same problem

I returned a dining suite to Argos a couple of years ago as the veneer was lifting all over. I don't know where they get their vastly inflated RRP's from. I wouldn't buy this, as said it is veneered and the seats are plastic.

Did I? I can assure you that if I did it was by accident. I have learned my lesson buying Argos furniture. Last year I bought a leather corner unit that was in the sale RRP £1800. It is utter rubbish and I can't wait to replace it. It is only leather on the seats (the rest being plastic) It is cheap and nasty looking - never again, it wasn't worth the super sale price, never mind the 'RRP'

If you add this and a stool for £3.99, use code FURNSAVE you'll pay only £142.93 including your delivery. Then just return the stool to your local branch. Did this successfully with a six seater for the Dining Room.

Any links to any 2p furniture? I'm struggling here

CALL THEM UP.... They will give you the promotion !! I called earlier and the order came to £138 incl delivery!!

Oak veneer with a RRP of £449.99? Im not paying £150 for chipboard or MDF!!!

As long as people dont know the difference between oak & oak veneer, they'll cash in.

Agree with the comments about veneer lifting off, bought one for Christmas in December and it cracked beautifully after a couple of weeks. We had it replaced and not had a problem yet, fingers crossed this one will be ok.
I didn't realise it was a common problem, when I emailed them about it to complain they acted as if it was something they'd never heard of before.
That said it's ok for our first dinner table, looks all right in the room.

Never fails to make me smile this site - the item has 43 reviews and everyone are excellent comments, the price has been reduced by £300 and people are still moaning about the quality...(even though the reviews state the quality is good).

Well done OP - ignore the folk that want a ferrari for a fiver.

well excuse us for sharing our experiences.

Got a veneer table and 6 chairs a couple of years ago from Argos - no problems with veneer. Chairs I got were nicer though, not so keen on these. Does the trick for me, I was fed up fretting at the damage to my oak table and leather chairs, so they are up the attic until the sprogs grow up and the cats croak it!

bought this exact table from argos for £199 6 months ago never worth £499 nice looking table but the oak coloured backing on the table legs has started to peel off revealing the chipboard underneath

Quality of this is pants. My nan bought it and you can tell its only about worth 149. If that.

The legs on the chairs are skinny and when you sit on them the padding is so thin you can feel the wooden framing.

not worth the price , cheap quality . voted cold

it looks nice at first but as its only chipboard with a thin oak coloured plasticky backing it soon shows up what it actually is

43 reviews all excellent?? Im sold. ordered for next week delivery

I bought my leather suite fae Harveys, was told when i bought it it was faux leather{pvc} leather but seating part was leather, now a small hole has devoloped on the bootom part of the recliner..Phoned shop they sent guy out and said its happened because its pvc....I was told all that part was leather..Truth be told they are all garbage, argos in no worse than any other furniture store, Harveys are terrible to deal with and wont repair even although under 12 months warranty..Avoid them at all cost..

I bought this set but with 6 chairs over a year ago from Homebase and am extremely happy with it - I use coasters and placemats to protect the tabletop and the whole set is as new

Fab price, hope this helps someone decide whether to buy.

Good price for what it is but spend an extra £50/£100 and get real solid oak. Speaking from experience these mark and wear very easily, ye sure some people are extra careful but should you have to be with a dining room table. Scratch a solid oak table and sand it down, strain it treat it etc for years of use. What I am tryng to get at is spend a bit extra and save in the long run. Only my thoughts and just speaking from my own experience.

Did a quick search and found this one, Coxmoor Solid Oak, suppose it depends on personal taste but seems alright for a solid oak table and chairs. I am sure if you shop around you could find one for under £250.

ordered - for this money its a nice set that will last a few years thanks OP

Got this for £200 about 6 months ago. It's ok for the price as it looks good. But quality is definitely questionable. Its not oak, its just chipboard covered with venere. The back padding on the chair is where the most cost cutting is done, you can feel the back frame and I feel the back plastic will get worn soon.

Stil i think at 149 beats every other table on the market.
