Because the Underground sign is one of the most iconic designs ever. Bit like asking why people buy Coca-Cola branded goods.
It’s something expats (Londoners) would love to remind them of home.
Brother-in-law works for the underground so this will make the perfect present to remind him of work on his days off Thanks OP.

Well, Coca-Cola branded goods I can understand so I can say about underground branded goods but who in his right mind would just buy Coca-Cola lit-up !??🙃
It's also £3.95 for postage.
Now you can be reminded of overcrowded trains, rude Londoners, stabbings, and urine. Another icon that can be added to wall of tat.

Anybody remember an infamous rave club from the early '90s, called Sterns?

you're a cheery one
Interestingly, the online info about this item (priced at £25.00 via London Transport Museum's website) states the following.....

Dimensions:

Height: 18 cm, 180 mm 7 inches
Width: 22 cm, 220 mm 8.5 inches
Depth: 4.3 cm, 43 mm 1.55 inches

Uses 2 x AAA Batteries (not included)

.....whereas observe that the size of the version (below) being sold at Robert Dyas differs very slightly:

Height: 20 cm, 200 mm
Width: 18 cm, 180 mm
Depth: 4.5 cm, 45 mm

Quite frankly however, I find the stingy 90-day warranty on this product completely unacceptable, so I'm afraid that it's ICE COLD from me !!
