This Plasma screen has incredible ratings from various magazines and reviews. The cheapest i can find it on the internet at the moment for is £1080. Richer sounds have it on there own website for £899.95.

HOWEVER recently posted in the sunday times newspaper this is a bargain price of £799.95, i have included a screen grab of the article below. This is by far the cheapest this screen is available.

I recommend asking about stock, then just before paying present the voucher and make no mention of it any earlier on. This way no lies can be told about stock since the screen is right in front of you.

(Below taken from Richer Sounds Website)

For 50" plasma TV value, look no further than the Panasonic TH50PX7.

Coming with Panasonic's legendary V-real technology, the 50" Panasonic offers a superb quality picture whether you're watching in HD or SD. A further raft of benefits comes from the inclusion of Panasonic's legendary Viera system. The Viera link, via HDMI, allows for easy operation of a matching Panasonic DVD or DVDR, whilst Viera Audio Description helps the partially sighted (in combination with suitable digital broadcasts). Whatever the source, though, the Panasonic TH50PX7 offers up a vibrant picture with deep blacks and a fine sense of realism.

This one doesn't get any ratings or reviews, that's the PX70.

This one is a cut down model with inferior picture, lower contrast, less colours etc.

my bad, but this still has a far superior image quality for anything at the price and this size.

link to avforums which detail the differences

by the way panasonci are going to release the px80(px8 as well?) these are supposed to be better than the px70's and kinda the same price range (thats what is said)

just some extra info to help you make an informed choice

(any mistakes please let me know)

I recently purchsed the 42" version px7 for £599 with 5 yr warranty instore House of Fraser and it's very impressive using a SD source, which is what I use.

I compared it to the px70 in shop and there was very little difference on freeview, if anything the px7 had punchier colours IMO.

Whats your evidence to support this broad sweeping statement? A visit to Currys perhaps? :whistling:

Being the fussy b*stard i am, ive looked at screens of this size for ages, ive seen LGs, Panasonics, Samsungs and Pioneers.

Ive seen this model on display in multiple shops, including richer sounds. From my personal point of view the only screen which comes close to this in terms of image quality, ( and beats it ) is a pioneer 42" screen for nearly double the price.....

The only downside to this screen is its specs arnt quite as high as similar rated LGs ( pc51/6 ) but trust me, it pisses all over it and then some. Its a far superior screen in terms of image quality.

The only downside of this screen from my point of view is the lack of VGA input on the back and it only has 1 hdmi port.

At this price Richers must be losing money on each panel they sell.

I own a th42pz70 myself..... i mean if you dont want this screen dont bother.

But for a 50" this price, this is a few hundred pounds cheaper than elsewhere AND i dont think you can find a better 50" plasma screen for £799 right now. But id be happy to be proved wrong

Obviously plasmas arnt for everyone. But for someone who values image quality for the small sacrifice in terms of power and risk of screen burn then a plasma is the way to go.

Boxrick - you are right these panasonic plasmas are the best you can currently get (in this price range) barring the pioneer kuros which like you said are double (if not more) the price. I also have the th42pz70 and its awesome.
and one thing to point out (and im not trying to be smart) is when looking to buy tvs dont think what you see in the shops (like currys) is the best that that tv can do, the source is split between loads of tvs and the tvs setting are the best for the lighting and conditions etc. Best bet is do some research and go on forums such as avforums and places like here (some of us (not me by any measure) are very helpful and very knowledgeable)
