As a regular traveller to the Far East, minimum is 3 weeks, otherwise you spend 1/2 your time either travelling, or getting over travelling - unless you can afford 1st class and a direct flight (~13 hours).

If you are travelling with children, pay a small premium and fly Emirates, with a rest stop in Dubai, either a few hours to stretch your legs transferring between flights, or a weekend to enjoy the sights.

Dubai is almost exactly 1/2 way, turning a 13 hour nightmare into 2 bearable 6-7 hour flights.

Ré the deal, it is a great price, I am looking at nearly £200 pp just to get flights to Spain that week.

My 2 have loved it through the years. They were 6 + 8 when we first went in 2012.

They can say thanks, hi, bye, how are you, please can I have and can count to 10 in Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian and Thai
They've made many friends in many countries.
They've experienced brilliant family times playing games, chatting, being silly on long plane and train journeys, enjoyed some amazing water parks, run all over the Tomb Raider set in Angkor Wat, eaten far too many pancakes from a stall on the side of a Thai street as the vendor loved them, been to many local markets and been shocked at how animals are sold there, tried all manner of new foods that they love and hate in equal measure, been ice skating and to the cinema for £1 each, been on several cable cars up and down mountains, taken part in Cambodian and Thai cultural dances, been sailing and swimming in Halong Bay, been on a ferry across Kowloon Bay, been astounded at houses built over sewers and had their eyes opened to the dignity many have who live in real poverty and they've loved travelling on all sorts of transport from tuk tuks to elephants to a crate on the back of a moto.

Looking to plan our 3rd family SE Asia trip this summer, hence I'm on this thread. Can't think of anywhere better to take kids in the summer. Loads to do for families, the friendliest people I've ever met in the world and so much cheaper than Europe.

Interesting.....we're planning on a couple of weeks in Thailand this summer with our 6 and 4 year olds - they love a long flight, bed in, watch as much TV/iPad as they like, eat funny food that arrives on a tray.....not sure thai food when we get there really counts as strange - chicken and noodles or rice is fairly mainstream! And the kids clubs at the beach resorts are great - we'll do a couple of days in Bangkok tuk-tuk-ing around the crazy world that it is, then rest of the time on one of the islands.
All for a decent whack less cash than some of the good European options that we checked out. Great idea :-)

Any honeys in Thiland?

Just the ladyboys
A weeks not enough.
Great price but for a week and with a ten hour stopover with two kids! I'd definitely pay a bit more to lessen the stopover
Woah 60 hour return flight! You coulf fly to New Zealand and back in that time.
Simply lovely......
Mental
Crazy cheap but thats a crazy long way for a week

Long long way to travel for 1 week. And air China are horrendous. I've travelled to Thailand with them once, never again. I always use either Emirates, Etihad or Qatar, much better to travel with. That said this is a good price and heat added.
ok price for Air China, i paid not much more to MNL, never flying them again. Shocking airline.

Voted hot, based upon the price, but a deal not for me.
For me, 10 days (excluding travel time) is the absolute minimum I'd spend in SE Asia. If you were going with 2 kids I doubt you'd want to spend much time in Bangkok either, so more travelling when you've got off the plane.
I'd pay £268 NOT to take that deal!

Just a quick one, we booked a holiday in Spain that week for 2 adults 2 kids flying on the Monday and back on the Friday from stanstead to Santander and the flights were 320 for all 4 of us... with Ryanair, may not be what your after but have a look!
Wouldnt take kids to bangkok... love the place but why take kids...?!

Loving the ‘if it aint spain i aint going’ brigade... the world doesn’t end at the costa del sol.
Though the only people that went Thailand were those who’d selected click & collect option on their new bride?!

Just booked Bangkok from Edinburgh for £360 for 3 weeks in May with Etihad through Opodo. Check Holiday Pirates as think offer is still going from Edi, Manchester and London. I flew with Air China before and never again. Yes, it's more expensive but (personally speaking) you can't go wrong with Eithad and flight is split in 2x 6.5 hour flights which is manageable since wife HATES flying.

It was this post if anyone's interested:

I flew with Air China last year to Thailand on a deal that was similar, I really don't understand the how people hate them so much it was a perfectly reasonable flight. Are they top tier, no. But also nothing to stop me flying with them again
I think it's a great deal but would love 2 weeks, voted hot
Thailand is getting more expensive all the time. Especially with the pound hammered after the brilliant idea of voting for Brexit....
Traveled Thailand year ago and looking forward to do it again, nice deal thx
33074693-cEDhI.jpg 52 Bhat to the pound the day before Brexit. 44 today. It was 15% more expensive overnight....

My parents have a time share near Malaga, so we have been trying to get flights; it we travel down to London, yes, the flights are cheap, but travel costs and parking make it over £500 for 3 of us.

Travel from Birmingham (our nearest), is even worse, £580 if we pull 2 days sickie for our daughter and fly on the Thursday, £560, for the Friday, £755 if we fly on the Saturday, and over £800 on the Sunday.

And this WITH RyanAir!!!

TBF, there are cheaper flights, but not a lot cheaper, and they come with horrendous stop overs of 8-14 hours !!!!
