Only one Simple Minds compilation worth owning in my opinion "Early Gold", after 1982s "New Gold Dream" album they lost their art, heart, and sold their soul to pompous stadium rock. Never so quickly had a transition from post punk/art rock to stadium rock taken place by a band!

One trip to youtube and compare the likes of "Sweat In Bullet" to their latest offering "Rockets" and heck can you hear the difference.

Agree to a point, but its all down to personal taste at the end of the day! In terms of value for money though (which is why I posted this item after all!) this is a much better value rounded compilation of greatest hits that Early Years or Glittering Prize. Once Upon a Time was the album that caterpulted them in to the stadium rock genre and I actually really ike that album, and all their stuff up to Street Fighting Years.

I was talking from a music point of view wasn't dissing the deal Just am amazed at how a band so vastly changed, think Derek Forbes leaving (although there were elements of stadium rock on Sparkle In The Rain) was the downturn.

Some cracking tunes on this deal - voted hot!!

I agree with Lord Trumpington. Up to Once upon a Time they were pretty good, from Street Fighting Years they lost it. CD1 is top, CD2......hmmmm.

This seems to all Virgin released stuff. Check out the 3 albums on Zoom, Life in a day, Real to Real Cacophany & Empires and Dance (Real to Real is a bit wierd).

Ooops was wrong about Virgin releases. I Travel is on it, that's on Empires and Dance.

Zoom was an independent label under the Arista Records Moniker, when Simple Minds signed to Virgin the first 3 albums were re-released on Virgin as they bought the rights to the back catalogue.

Life In A Day is on it as well, but as I said Virgin bought rights to their backcatalogue.
