Fast growing - 2ft a year in good conditions - beat the retailers at their own game. All you need is a patch of earth or you could do 'wild' gardening - ie plant them on some public land then come cut down your property in 5 years time.

We've specifically chosen to grow this variety because it has stunning, glossy, deep green-blue flat needles that won't end up all over the carpet. The tip of the leaf on these evergreen conifers is usually blunt, often slightly notched at the tip, but can be pointed, particularly on strong-growing shoots on young trees. It has a lovely, bushy growth habit with a broad bottom. The cones are 10-20 cm long and 4-5 cm broad, when the tree is mature.

I have always considered branching out and growing my own!

Not sure I have the space for a pack of 10. It'd be great if you could just buy them singularly - useful for flat dwellers, and small home owners without gardens!

I think the cost of P&P makes that difficult - maybe you could get together with a few friends. Very helpful company who will do you a deal on the phone if you can offer something reasonable, eg 5 for £12 delivered or something like that.

Grows 2m per year you say.....

Chop it down in 5 years time you say.....

What the hell am I going to do with a 10m Xmas tree! oO

X)

I'm quite sure that they won't grow 2m in 12 months in most of the UK. Not unless they're counting whip growth, which is cheating because nobody wants a fir stick in their front room.

At least if you plant that many you could declare yourself as carbon neutral in a few years.

Min order of 5 (or other stuff to make the order up to a tenner).

I might grab some of these and plant them at my allotment, see how they get on.

Anyone know the laws on planting on public land.

good find, 10 for £26 delivered

but like I mentioned above, the folks at Jackson will probably do a deal if you are nice to them on the phone. I guess their P&P is similar to Ashridge ie £6. If you only want (say) 4, they'd probably get them out to you for not far north of a tenner.

I have a golf course behind my garden, I'm considering planting them in the rough / tree lining. Then I'll cut one every year.

grows 18-24 inches per year according to this site - where you can buy seeds http://www.treeseedonline.com/store/p63/Nordmann_Fir_(abies_nordmaniana).html

We used to have a conifer we dug up each year then replanted after Christmas. That retarded the growth so it lasted several years before getting too tall. Had two originally but one didnt survive replanting the second or third time. You need to water them if you do this.
