Yes, it is still expensive, but it is worth it!

It is hard to imagine how a game that essentially just makes you move your hands from one to spot to another can be such a workout. I think it testament to how well polished this game is that it makes you feel like you are using your arms to pull yourself up and take your weight.

I bought this last time it was on sale, and really glad I did, it is so much better than I thought, but if you're scared of heights, this might not be for you.

If you get chance, look on YouTube for videos of real rock climbers playing this and their reactions/reviews.

Feel the exhilaration of extreme free solo climbing. Experience the adrenaline rush as you ascend to epic heights, explore caves, and find shortcuts. Race against your friends’ routes to compete for the fastest times on leaderboards. Navigate and enjoy stunning landscapes from around the world, including the Alps, Southeast Asia, and the American Southwest.

Features:

- Free solo climbing: Ascend to epic heights, explore caves, and find shortcuts

- Multiplayer and achievements: Race other players’ ghosts, rise up leaderboards and earn over 100 achievements to unlock gear.

A big thank you to @sidesey for recommending it to me last time it was on sale, really glad I got this game
I tried this and it was interesting. Being a climber , this game got boring really quick. The feeling isn't really the same at all. It's more about holding your arms above your head and then pulling yourself towards your hands.

For a virtual workout, go with box vr or beat saber. More energetic and fun. (box vr seems to be slightly better with the workout).

I agree that this isn't an intense workout, but was really surprised how it created a sweat. I guess like most VR games, it's never going to feel exactly like the real thing (unless you've got really good haptic gloves/suit).

I'm not keen on Beat Saber (I find it too repetitive) and I've not tried Box VR (or Fit XR), but if I'm after a really good workout, I play The Thrill of the Fight for half hour or so (that's usually long enough to put the paramedics on standby ).

I really enjoy the feeling of achievement of reaching the top and looking out across the scenery, I quite often spend 5 minutes just enjoying the view at the end of a climb.

Not to knock the deal, because it is one, but if you don't want this game urgently it's probably worth wishlisting it on the Rift store, and waiting for a deal on that platform. The game's cross buy, so you'l gett it on both, and it has been cheaper on Rift.

I got it for 7.99, but that was before there was a Quest version, so I don't know if it will get that low again. It was 30% off on the Rift store last month, though.
Free for me as it's crossbuy (came free with the original Rift/touch controllers). Climb 2 is on the way if the Quest 2 box leak is real.
Got this in the summer sale & it's great. I'm sure it's nothing on real climbing, but I have no intention of hanging off a real mountain thanks very much, so this will do just fine for me!
Heat OP Looking forward to The Climb 2.

I really like the challenge behind Beat Saber, especially with custom made tracks. There's some really cool levels that flow so well.

Box VR is similar, it's repetitive gameplay but with Box VR if you do full length jabs and upper cuts, you feel the burn in your shoulders. I broke more of a sweat with that game over Beat Saber. But Beat Saber was working more towards spotting colours and patterns (more mental learning) at speed and reacting accordingly.

I liked the training level on the climb, as it reminded me of the indoor climbing gyms. But the actual levels, they were cool, but the level clipping was annoying on the Oculus Quest. Half the time I'd be slightly to close and fall through the wall and have to try again on the previous clip. When this happened a few times right after each other, it just kills the realism of the game and it's goal.

The lack of knowing your boundary with the wall was a let down but it's difficult to put that into a game without a haptic chest piece.

I tried a boxing game on the PSVR and found it terrible, believe it was the creed game.

I've done my fair share of trad and sports climbing in the past and yes this is not a climbing simulator and never will be until you can get your feet involved too but it still has some merit.

It makes you think about your route sequences (hand, rest and clip), how to avoid too much pump, chalk etc and generally offers a small taste of the freedom and surroundings that you can experience when climbing for real outdoors.

It's also useful as part of warm up section for a VR Fit workout and that's what I use it for.

The box is more than likely a fake.
Anyone know what time Q2 announcement is today? You’d think would be on oculus blog but I can’t see it. Cheers

I had an Oculus notification abut it earlier (but been too busy to read it).

Seems a very good fake, but what would be the point of creating and releasing a fake this close to the announcement? (We'll know by this time tomorrow what it will look like anyway)
