And why are exams more expensive than the content?
Because in this day and age, the few bits of ink on a piece of paper that you get at the end value more than what the course has taught you...

I don't think this includes the exams themselves. These courses are regularly dirt cheap on Groupon

No it does not include the exams, but not bad price for two courses.
The Groupon ones are I think still expensive and yes there are some good free material on the youtube channel.

Surely passing an exam is evidence you've taken on the knowledge and understood it. Otherwise you can only evidence that you've purchased training material.

Surely an employer would want to know that you understood the material and can apply it to a real life work scenario, making you an asset to the company?

Otherwise you'd be saying that you paid £14 for an online course and may or may not have a clue what it was on about!

training course certificates are proof you knew how to answer those questions, at that time. I've forgotten tons of training on random bits of hardware and software... but I still have the certs

Majority of the time, the recruitment agencies use systems to capture qualifications and key skills from your CV, this then will give you a chance for a interview. The interview is then how your sell yourself. I am not saying every qualification gets you a job. It does help you to get your foot in the door for a interview. Its about giving a chance and opportunity. Also a personal achievement.
Anyone know of a reasonable cost place to take the exam? Cheapest I have found so far is £165

Knowledge academy offer quite good discounts especially during sale such as the one coming in easter. But always call. They offer much better prices on phone than online.

Exams often only gauge how well you read the book. This is well known, especially in the IT industry.
Purchased , thanks
Can anyone buy one and send me the login details?

Would like to see what it's like first as they also an "Entire MBA course" for $15 which makes me a bit sceptical....

Absolutely.
Employers want experience, not paper CCNA, Prince or any other certification.
Industry is littered with these people that have the certs but don't know their arse from their elbow.
I've met a few

Prince 2 is almost all common sense, and the foundation exam only requires 50% to pass. A joke, the foundation is just to snare people in to taking the next more expensive exam because they are already invested - it's business first before teaching. I studied through Prince 2 material and read the books and frankly it just devalued the qualification and I thought getting the cert was not worth the cost.
Thanks; purchased. Prince 2 is useful if you are already a project manager with some experience. The problem we have is loads of people graduate and just do prince 2 and think they are project managers.
