I have had this for three years and I never paid The Costco Membership rather the rewards/Cashback I earn covered it all. The rewards can be claimed as Cash or Buy things at Costco.

NO ANNUAL FEES

Reward yourself

The TrueEarnings Card combines the fantastic value of Costco membership with all the great benefits you get as an American Express Cardmember. The result is a Card with generous Cashback rewards
  • Pays 3% cashback rewards on virtually all your restaurant dining (no maximum)
  • Pays 2% cashback rewards on nearly all your travel bookings (no maximum)
  • Pays 1% cashback rewards at Costco and almost everywhere else (maximum £300 cashback rewards in 12 months)
  • Each year you’ll be sent a Paper voucher for the value of cashback rewards you have earned, which can be redeemed for goods, services or cash
  • If you are a Costco Executive member the 1% cashback rewards from your TrueEarnings card is in addition to your current rate from Costco
  • If you are a Primary Costco member you can earn cashback rewards even faster with complimentary Supplementary Cards for family members or friends, as long as they are also Costco members and adults living in the UK

You do have a point. I don't use much in restaurants, but I assume the 'Virtually' seems kind of small print.
Better off with the platinum cashback card, 5% everywhere for 3 months 1% after and no annual charge
The membership should be free with the card. OP you have paid for the membership since you could have had the cash back . Anyway a good card for spend at Costco.

Not sure why you think it should be free membership just because you have the credit card.
I have the card card and am happy to pay for my membership.

As an incentive to get the card even if it were just a sign up bonus for the first year. For me there are better cards with sign up bonuses then cancel wait 6 months and repeat.

I thought it would be but unfortunately not.
In the first year, I got about 56 quid and which I in cashed and paid for renewal and second time about 47 quid. So, it's like getting membership fee covered with the rewards, which cost about 33 quid.
As I spend quite a lot at Costco, seems a good deal for me.

That's as maybe, but it does pay about 3% cashback on more than half of the pubs I drink in, whenever a pub serves food and takes Amex. The 3% gets paid whether I order food or just drinks.

Not really, if you're aready a costco member. After 3 months that card doesn't give 2% on travel or 3% on restaurants/pubs. After 3 months, this card is at least as good as the platinum card, and it also has no annual fee

It can be converted to hard cash in costco if you like - you don't need to spend it there. You just need to visit customer services to cash it in.

Yes that’s true.
Depends on your spend.. my card renews in January or February and I’m at £370 cashback so far this year and got £430 last year. We put all our spending on it that we can, down to 50p for a pint of milk from Waitrose, then pay off in full each month.
