In 1974 the brilliant and controversial Brian Clough made perhaps his most eccentric decision: he accepted the Leeds United manager's job. As successor to Don Revie, his bitter adversary, he was to last only 44 days. In one of the most acclaimed novels of this or any other year, David Peace takes us into the mind and thoughts of Ol' Big 'Ead himself, and brings vividly to life one of post-war Britain's most complex and fascinating characters.

exceptional book

book based on nothing but lies utter trash dishonours the great man

oooh controversy

Up the rams!

This has not expired - still available...
I guess one of the mods doesn't want it bought!

I hope Mrs Clough doesnt use HUKD!

Cracking film but not read the book yet - im a Leeds supporter (i sinned in a previous life) but i can happily say the guy was a legend - theres only 1 cloughie!

Superb book and a great film

I really enjoyed the book too - it should be remembered that it wasn't intended as a solid factual work... how could it be with its vivid, detailed dialogue (or more often monologue)?

Great price - hot!

fantastic read..

Fiction based on Fact...........

Total BS

total codswallop the writer even admitted he wished he hadnt done it, how can u have a book about such lies, jimmy giles took this writer to court and won, had the likes of clough etc been around today they would have wiped the floor with him legally for all the lies he wrote its a dishonour to clough and his family and i for one will not being watching that movie that his family have boycoted and people should know the truth about how bad the book is, faction he calls it facts based on fiction the guy is an idiot. IMHO

Im a Boro lad and love the clough - ordered - worth a read

as long as you appreciate it is complete nonsense it is a good read imho.
i can understand fully why the family wants nothing to do with the book or the film.
i would recommend "Provided You Don't Kiss Me" however if you are, like me, a cloughie fan.
if revie or cloughie were alive there is no way this would have been published and good on johnny giles for taking the publishers/author to task.

... that's Johnny Giles.

to be honest, i thought clough came out quite well from the book.

i love his idealism and his burning hatred of everything leeds represented

The author told blatant lies about people who have passed away and can't respond. Disgusting.

Cloughie would have destroyed the cheap David Peace.

Well done Johnny Giles for suing. This book should be banned.

what lies?

do you dispute the fact that the leeds team that revie built were a bunch of unscrupulous cheats who would have made mourinhos chelsea look like saints?
