I've tried to get the older members of my family to embrace Blu Ray, as they have HD tellies. But they aren't interested. So if I ever buy them a film as a present, it has to be on DVD.
They have also turned down the offer of Blu Ray players as they see them as more complicated. I've given up trying to convert them.

Fair enough. There are people (like my wife) that claim that they cannot tell the difference between 1080p, 4k and 8k. They can definately tell the difference between dvd and full hd on a 55inch tv. It's like wearing glasses

And this is why DVDs will forever continue to be relevant, more so than Blu Ray ever will to this day for many with any sort of disc spinner. Had the same problem the other day when a friend wanted to watch a movie I had on Blu Ray only to find out that they only had a DVD player and couldn't watch it.
