I'd just put the money towards the books if you don't have them.

I've never read a book in my life... watched a lot of films though
the movie is ok, if you have never read the books

There are audio books available
Just on the last book now ( well audiobook ) I have about 20hrs left but I'm finding it hard going ... Loved the others ... Does it pick up ?

Never watched the film and probably never will ! Garbage ...
I really struggled to get through this film, it's incredibly dull - I've tried three times, won't try again

You're missing out. They really messed up here. The books could have made for an amazing TV series.

They still might.

Amazon has started filming the TV series a few months before covid
The Wizard and the glass was a fantastic book, sadly this movie never even touched the gunslingers past history,
Great price, missed opportunity with the film and especially the cast available. What a shame!

But the books...boy... they were fantastic. As a series in my top two, with Pullman's dark materials books.

Occasionally hard going yes...but worth it.

It's worth finishing anyway.

The Wind Through The Keyhole is well worth reading if you didn't slot it in already. Chronologically takes place between books 4 and 5 but was published last. Doesn't particularly add to the story, bit it's a nice slice of Roland's life as a young Gunslinger.

I'm afraid not, like many Stephen King books don't expect a clever ending, it's more about the journey. The last of the series is a bit of a mess. Such a shame because the first four novels are excellent.
I normally found King's books make better films, except for this series - books over the film anytime.

I actually think the movie is good if you've read the books just because I thought some of the visuals did a good job of bringing some elements of the books to the screen. As a film I thought it was a total mess and can't see how it would make sense to anyone who'd never read the books. Even going in with low expectations I couldn't believe what a mess they made of it and I just can't understand how anyone could think the film they were making was anything good.
