Excellent price for this edition of this truly excellent film.. Elsewhere this is £15 to £20.
The Deer Hunter is an astonishing, powerful and vivid epic about three men, steelworkers from Pennsylvania, whose lives are changed irrevocably in the tragic devastation of the Vietnam war.
When Michael, Steven and Nick are captured by the Vietcong, they are forced to play Russian Roulette by their brutal captors, who make bets on their survival. The experience of capture leaves them with terrible physical and spiritual wounds and when Michael returns to Saigon to fulfil an old vow to one of his friends, he makes an unexpected, horrific discovery.
Director Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter won no less than 5 Oscars in 1978, for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing and Best Sound.

Which is how most of the main characters ended up, if memory serves.
Can you still get Rolling rock?
This film is overrated....there is too much stuff back at home, I get it, they are mates, don't need to spend an hour scene setting!
One of the best films ever made, a Masterpiece!!!

absolutely love this movie.. from the joy of a wedding to the savage scenes in nam in a blink of an eye
Bear in mind this will likely arrive damaged as Zavvi mail in bubble mailers not proper packaging. But I'll give it a try though, might be lucky. Thanks op.

Must confess, I had to study this film for a course and it bored me to literal tears. Ended up arguing with my tutor about how *** it was because he was a huge fan of it. Still can't see what the fuss is about it.

Still, if others enjoy it...

It's not I don't like arty films - 2001 a space Odyssey one of my favourite films - i. Just think it is well overrated

I was the same when I first watched it at 14, bored until the Vietnam scenes finally arrived. But when I watched it a second time in my mid 20's, I appreciated the early story development and also its significance later in the film. It was more than just exposition.

Bought to watch a third time, about 20 years on from the second time, and see how I feel now towards it.

Yeah, it's not personal about it, I just happen not to like it. But after I'd done the study on it, I liked it even less because it's a meandering film imo, could easily be cut down to 90 minutes for me and it'd still bore me.

Hst, it's personal taste. I'll vote this hot on the deal and the fact that others like it which is fine imo. My opinion means sod all really if someone else enjoys it.
