Not all these tracks actually feature the Beatles.

They were all recorded in around 1961 in Germany before the Beatles were famous and have been releaed in many forms over the years.

In most cases the Beatles were just backing musicians to Tony Sheridan.

Three of them were released on the Beatles Anthology (disk 1) - My Bonnie, Aint She Sweet and Cry for a shadow.

For all your anoraks out there.

There is an interesting story about one of the tracks, My Bonnie.

Even though it was recorded in Germany it was actually released in the UK as a single in around 1962.

A man called Brian Epstein owned a record shop in Liverpool and prided himself on knowing all the local bands.

Somebody went into his shop and asked for My Bonnie by the Beatles and he said he had never heard of them.

He was told they were a local Liverpool group and were in fact playing in the Cavern.

Brian Epstein decided to go and hunt them out, went to see them at the cavern and straight away fell in love with John (Brian was gay and had a thing for young men in leather).

He signed them up and became their manager, and the rest they say is history.

He signed up many other Liverpool bands and singers (such as Cilla Black) and overnight he became one of the most famous men in the UK.

Sadly he committed suicide in the mid 1960s.

Thanks Edi - going to get this
