This apocalyptic political thriller swept the boards at the BAFTAs... Television drama would never be the same again.
The atmosphere - created by a politically subtle and compelling script, a score by Eric Clapton and a magnificent cast - is gripping from start to nail-biting finish.

As Yorkshire detective Ronald Craven investigates the murder of his daughter, the story spirals into a gripping eco-thriller of political conspiracy, secret service machinations and even shady medieval societies. As he draws closer to the dangerous inner sanctums of organised environmental protests and nuclear power interests, he discovers the ultimate truths at the heart of our society.

Please be reminded this is not the same as the one currently out in the cinemas (with Mel Gibson as star)

its the same story tho-just set in america

actually this is better,in a sense because it runs nearly six hours and all the nuances and twists in the story are there rather than the 2 hour condensed mel gibson version.

while gibsons effort is reasonable fun they edited the story too much imho-this is how it should be watched to appreciate a well constructed thriller.

TV at it's best - hot

This is deep stuff and well worth the cash. Some of the best tv I've ever seen. Bob Peck is excellent. Undated too.

Uh, sorry - it's £3.99 at HMV although OOS. On a plus, it's £95.21 second hand on Amazon marketplace!

Maybe one of the best UK dramas ever made.

It's a shame that they don't make drama like they used to. Classic stuff:thumbsup:

Just logged in and thought i'd mention that amazon have it for this price, in fact i think it was even cheaper a week or so ago,

Probably the best thing ever made for British tv.

And don't forget the added bonus that Eric Clapton played the theme music. In case you've never heard it before, here's a taste..

Also featuring a 21-year-old Joanne Whalley - oooh I remember it like it was yesterday! ;-)

And BLUE10 makes it £4.36 - and a definite must-buy!
;-)

Away to see the new version this afternoon - but will be watching this as soon as it arrives!
:-D

remember this drama very well - ordered.

Not sure what BLUE10 is - pushing the 'ENTER BLUE10 AT THE BASKET' button does nothing obvious.

Entering BLUE10 as a discount code takes off 10%.

I found it shortly before I got an e-mail telling me about the discount, which will work until 9 am tomorrow (and would be worth a separate post in itself, I suppose).
