The Elder Scrolls Online is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) set in Tamriel, the ancient land that includes the provinces of Morrowind, Daggerfall, and Skyrim. The game takes place 1,000 years before the events of Skyrim, during the Age of Heroes. Embark on an epic adventure to save the land from a seemingly unstoppable evil in a sprawling storyline that can be experienced on your own or with friends.

The Epic Story

It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom.

Four years ago, in 2E 578, an arcane explosion of energy in the Imperial City set off mystical aftershocks that swept across Nirn. Mages died or went mad. Supernatural abominations from the plane of Oblivion, the Daedra, appeared in greater numbers than ever before. The constellation of the Serpent grew so large that it dominated the night sky.

So began the grand scheme of Molag Bal, Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement. His Dark Anchors, vortexes of evil magic, weaken the barrier between worlds, threatening to merge Nirn and Oblivion into a single, nightmarish hellscape.

In the midst of this chaos, three alliances vie for control of the Imperial City and the White-Gold Tower. High Rock, Sentinel, and Orsinium stand as one, united under the rule of the High King in Wayrest, Valenwood and Elsweyr have forged an alliance with Summerset, and Black Marsh, Morrowind, and Skyrim have joined forces and formed their own uneasy pact.

The Daggerfall Covenant. The Aldmeri Dominion. The Ebonheart Pact.

Three armies will take up arms against the Empire, and against each other, to wrest control of the Imperial City and White-Gold Tower from the dark forces of Oblivion itself.

Where do your loyalties lie?

Only Xbox Gold required. I saw a promotional sample box in store, and the top was definitely marked “No subscription required”.

It will be subscription free but content will be sold via DLC

Taken from Wikipedia:

On January 21, 2015, it was announced that an active subscription would no longer be needed to play the game effective March 17, 2015. Aside from the initial game price, there is be an optional subscription called "ESO Plus" which grants free access to all current and future downloadable content (DLC) and a monthly allotment of 1500 Crowns, the in-game currency as long as the player stays subscribed. The DLC will also be available for separate purchase in the Crown Store. Additionally, the optional subscription grants various perks that allow players to progress slightly faster than a free player.

Yea your spot on, they did try it on at first. Gamefaq reviewed it and said that they little to no point in paying anything extra the free subscription is 9.8/10. I can't wait, I'm not an RPG fan but Skyrim is the best game I've ever played, hands down!

So there's a two tier system :-(
The one for Star Wars old Republic was awful you could still play without subscription but they made it so much more hard work to do so.

Why can't they all take the guild wars model

As far as I'm aware it's closer to the Guild Wars model. The benefits of subscribing are free store money, XP bonuses and access to all future DLC - so you're still getting all of the game's current content and standard XP rate which has the bonus of being actually designed to level up that fast rather than usual F2P games which clearly have artificially slow XP rates unless you subscribe.

What the future DLC will be, who knows.

if you go in expecting skyrim you are going to be disappointed. one of the reasons it did poorly to begin with, people expecting a game like skyrim and were disappointed.

Exactly .I was so looking forward to this and was able to play on the private beta tests...boy was I disappointed. It's just a mad free for all, people standing outside a cave waiting their turn to go in and kill a monster after it respawns and a player has came out of said cave. Atrocious.Apparently it is better now but I lost any desire to check it out ever again.

Strictly a formal affair ,they don't want your type in Tamriel, blow-ins taking all the good quests away from the locals.Full evening robe wear and only dressage staffs permitted .We're sorry but due to rise in pickpocketing we will be declining entrance to all rogues .

Well well, i've just had a look at if you order the same game going through rakuten.co.uk/sho…com it's £53.24, but if you order straight off base.com it's £34.99, it's coming from same Business Park address X)
Anyway nice price, and don't forget to use top cash back.
I'm enjoying playing The witcher 3 wild hunt on ps4, spent hours on it, so i think i should enjoy this game, ok i'll order a copy.

Amazon gonna price match this?

I can't see them price matching, but if they did, you are not able to use topcashback with amazon, i would need it to drop below £34.99 for me to buy from amazon.

theexile2k3

i would say no, never seen them price match base.com. shopto is the only site for games seen them price match. to be honest rarely buy games from amazon now as one of the most expensive, if you shop around 90% of the time stuff can be found cheaper

Really? .. I am expecting Skyrim, am I wrong to be?

Looks good but not looking forward to someone who has spent a fortune constantly destroying me. Another game full of "Pay To Win".

I've got it on PC, it's basically skyrim without dragons, you have an action bar with 6 abilities (Chose wisely :P) not sure how it's going to work on console like.. Maybe it wont be the same as PC but I imagine it will be. PVP is intense and it's a HUGE grind to hit max level + profs and gear. You'll love this game, don't worry. I actually enjoy questing on this game which is a first for any mmorpg for me

There is nothing you can buy that will help you murder someone my friend, the only helpful thing is the 10% XP boost you get from the imperial edition. Crowns can buy skins, pets and mounts. No weapons or any sort of gear can be bought using real money, it's a huge grind for everyone and I love it

GrannyMurray

the biggest complaints are

boring lifeless static world compared to skyrim (this might have changed)

open world but not open world. unlike morrow wind, skyrim etc where you could freely explore most of the map. here if you stray to far you will be killed very quickly until you level up

lots of boring "fetch" quest that need to be done so you are right level to continue story. mind its not as bad as a lot of other games of this type

Combat Is More Strategic which to me is a plus but to many used to skyrim its a negative

mind i have not played it, just what i have heard about it. the people who seemed to dislike this game more than others are those who expected it to be more like skyrim

but if you find you dont like it you can sell it on, which at one point people thought you couldn't. can see this either keeping its price or it dropping like a stone

Only real bonus is a 10% increase in experience. Everything else is cosmetic or expansion packs

Its not just that, the game has a lifeless, barren world and almost every aspect of it has been done better elsewhere.

I know I wish there was dragons but I think it's set like 1000 years before skyrim or something, PvE is still awesome though & it depends on what class you choose, I'm dragonknight and I've gone for talents that can clear mobs quick so I can level faster :P It's personal preference really, you can change your skills whenever you want as long as you're willing to pay up a hefty amount of gold. Great game though and I got it for a steal at £16 on G2A for the imperial edition! Price is up now though

PC version right?

Is there an actual story to this with progression in plot? If so, how does that work with multiple people playing. Do you all go on quests at the same time or something

Wow, didn't know this, thanks.

Thought it would be buying say "Prime" or "Elite" versions of weapons.

Can't wait now.
