Im not expecting this to get very hot, collectors editions aren't always well received on here, but for anyone who has their heart set on the Collectors Edition of Skyrim, GameStop have it for pre-order at £119.97 which is at least £10 cheaper than anywhere else.

(Available for ps3 and xbox 360)

"In addition to including the eagerly awaited game, this premium version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim includes:

Alduin Statue. Created in conjunction with the IP Factory, this collector's only statue stands 30.5cm tall and is made of high quality PVC. Modelled from actual in-game 3D digital files, it showcases Alduin, the World Eater. He stands perched atop one the game's many dragon walls that teach the player the lethal language of dragons.

'The Art of Skyrim' Official Art Book. Featuring over 200 pages of striking, full-colour illustrations, sketches and models, this stunning 23.8cm x 30.8cm coffee table book showcases the characters, creatures, environments and weaponry of Skyrim. With a foreword by game director Todd Howard and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists, readers will be guided through the game's iconic visual style.

'The Making of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' DVD. This documentary DVD contains exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage, including interviews with the Bethesda Game Studios team as they take you from concept to creation and provide insights into the story, gameplay, setting, legacy of the Elder Scrolls franchise, and much more."

Yeah I was kinda shocked at the price when they announced it, but theres a HELL of a lot of people eagerly awaiting this game and many want this edition because of the parchment map... For those who want it, any cash saved is a bonus
Its as much as the console to play it on and there's no way a cheap statue and bit of old paper can make this worth the cash, i dont care how much of a collectors edition it is i think a better name would be the Trump edition because theres only people with more money than sense would buy this overpriced game.

Why not buy the standard edition for £25 maximum on release day, wait 1 month, then buy this collector edition for £50-60? you will then have 2 copies of the game and you paid less overall...
Apparently its going to be available in "extremely limited quantities." But im guessing the creators would always say that to increase sales. Regardless I really dont think its going to be £60 after the first month...
I wanted this edition but not paying this for it i will buy the normal one then wait for this to come down in price.

Heat still added as cheapest for this out there.
Sorry but starting to think these "collectors" editions are getting a little out of hand now
That statue looks like something they'd sell on price-drop.tv
no collectors editions are worth it now, gaming is becoming to big for "collectors" editions to become a rarity like a few gens ago.

in my eyes a collectors edition should have extremely limited quantity, you shouldn't be able to walk into a shop 6 months after release to find half the stock is still there and its had 70% slashed off.

companys are starting to take the p*ss thought Bethesda would of been a little different.

I agree it's becoming like bottled water.
The statue probably doesn't cost that much to make either (it's plastic!)...
Have collectors additions of games ever gone up in value??? If not I really don't see the point. Not at this amount of extra cost anyway...
Just buy the normal game then pop to toys r us for a crappy plastic toy dragon and a fake map for under a tenner if thats what you really want.....!
Roll up, roll up, get your cheap tat that is of no use, yours for only £119.97!

I genuinely cannot see why anyone would part with such a huge amount of money for what is clearly a massive rip off. It's all about the game, just buy that for £30 or £40 or so and save your money for something more worthwhile.
It's a shame 'Electronics Boutique" aren't in the UK any more (seems to be Australia & Canada only) as they're doing the collector's edition minus statue for around £70.

Here's the link

You get the occasional one that is genuinely rare and can increase in value. The Crysis 2 backpack springs to mind. But otherwise, I reckon not. Those Halo Reach editions got overstocked and the price was slashed.

You're right, they say that about every single collector's edition
And maybe not a month, but in time
I mean, anyone remember Killzone's Helghast edition?

Yes, the fallout3 and vegas collectors editions, Uncharted2 Hunter's edition, Crysis2 collectors etc. etc.
It all depends how good the core game is. The Aliens Vs Predator and Duke Nukem Forever special editions have dropped/are dropping in price.

Then again, a decent game and it's special edition can still get devalued, as Bioshock 2 has shown.
In the end, it's a gamble.
