Agreed... however the last one I ordered like this randomly came back into stock, dispatched, went out of stock permanently then was smashed by the courier

Cheers ordered op

The bottle that's pictured on Amazon hence the corresponding picture above show a 17yo bottle.......so braw if this comes through. Seems fishy to me however........

I was just about to say that also it like £63?

Is it because it is a single cask whisky?

Age isn't the only important thing in a whisky. Having an 18yo over a 16yo doesn't automatically mean it'll taste 12.5% better.

This is a single cask, which means all the spirit in the bottle came from only 1 barrel. The label on the bottle will tell you that it's a certain number of a small number of bottles from 1 cask - around a couple of hundred. It's fairly exclusive.

Also, this is 52.5% where the 18yo is 43%, so it's considerably less watered down.

Now, whether it'll be worth the price is a different matter... rarity gives whiskys a high price, but it doesn't necessarily mean they deserve it. I can't find much information or many people reviewing this whisky. It's a lot to spend without having an idea what it tastes like.

Seems just another way to charge you more money

Will suit Apple fans perfectly I guess

It's a bit odd that there are no reviews online, isn't it?

Fake whisky

You snooze, You lose. . . .

If this is anything at all like the Conglass or Gallowhill Editions then its a decent price at £75.

Is it worth it - only you know but collectors will buy at this price, these are great specialist Whiskies that are hard to find.

My only concern is that Amazon get their own in-house reviewer to leave a review - which to me (even though I buy from them) looks a bit flakey.

No real info online. I have boughr in the hope it is a quality bottle at a good price. Thanks OP

I think there are only 216 bottles being produced from the cask -- according to the label.

From a single cask, yes. That's all a cask holds so it'd be a bit hard to do any more. However, that doesn't mean there will only be 216 bottles total - e.g. they might put single cask bottles out from 5 different casks, then there'd be over 1000 bottles.

Fake whisky

There are fake whiskys, sure, but it's pretty unlikely that this is one of them. Wouldn't be much gain in faking a whisky no one's ever heard of.

I have emailed Glenlivet asking for more details.

I will post the response when it comes.

Looks like a few of you might get a nice treat! I can't see the cheaper option now so unless i'm blind (or stupid) it looks like it's expired?

Where did you see this? Mine still shows waiting for stock.

Tasting notes from Glenlivet:

From our distillery team:

Details below for Blairgowrie,

Age – 17 years
Bottling date – April 2016
Strength – 52.5%
Cask – Barrel
Outrun – 216 bottles
Cask no. – 29696
AYS – 16/03/99
Main market – PR Korea

Illicit whisky was brought down from the mountainous landscape of the
Cairngorm Mountains to Blairgowrie. This busy market town next to the
gently flowing River Ericht was a key destination on the smugglers route
to markets further south.

Hope this is helpful.

Nice one. We both got no.98.

Both got bottle number 98!.....is that from the same cask.....Cask no. – 29696?

If that's the case yo might want to talk to Amazon and Glenvilet.... there is something very wrong.

Maybe a case of Scotch from Glenvilet heading your way!

Has been pending order ever since. Anyone got theirs lately?

Update: Amazon has cancelled my order
Edited by: "rohitrd" 30th Nov
