It was an absolutely brilliant film. I loved it anyway!

Great find - was that irony in the description though "....grim northern Grammer school...." !!

decidedly average film. Worth seeing to spot all of Gavins friends from Gavin and Stacey!

Hot! £3.89 at Amazon, £5 at play.com, can't find anywhere else that is cheaper!

rented for free on my Cinema Paradiso trial, thought film was bit average but the soundtrack was good!

This film is amazing.

Timms: You've got **** handwriting, sir!
Tom Irwin: It's your eyesight that's bad, and we know what that's caused by.
Timms: Sir! Is that a coded reference to the mythical dangers of self-abuse?
Tom Irwin: Possibly. It might even be a joke.
Dakin: A joke, sir. Oh. Are jokes going to be a feature, sir? We need to know as it affects our mindset.

Brilliant!!

Dominic Cooper is also excellent as Dakin. U may have spotted him in Mamma Mia!!

I think you either love or hate Alan Bennett stuff.

Richard Griffiths stole the show as usual and it was nice to Miss Jones back on our screen ;-)

Pete :-)

My view is if a film is English it automaticaly gets 10/10 so i ordered! Just look at This is England, Football Factory, Green Street 2, Lock Stock, Snatch etc... The list goes on.

H&R added OP.

Just ordered, and in the confirmation email got another offer code - ILLBEBACK - that apparently gives £2 off the next order over £5!
Not sure if its specific to those that have ordered recently or to everyone, but give it a try and give me a report back

The pedo film - yucky.

A teacher rides a motorbike, with school boys on the back and gropes them.

Made me want to clean myself down with a wire brush and bleach just for watching.

He reminded me of my English teacher who was a perv. Still enjoyed the film, but I am a huge Bennett fan.

Weren't you too busy throwing petrol bombs at the houses of pediatricians?

i gotta admit i thought the film looked good from the promos i saw. but when i realised what it was about, well its just not my things. gay or peado, it made me most uncomfortable to sit through, so i sent it back to the rental place after about 30-40 mins.

im not a fan of mr bennett.

If you are a gay you'll probably enjoy it even more

I thought it was generally a load of tosh :-D

Don't worry dear - you stick with your Hollywood bullet-spraying shoot-em-ups because that sort of violence is so much less serious than a sad old teacher copping a quick feel of his pupils.

And all the men wear underpants in bed.

pibpob - I don't understand how you can link petrol bombing to a comment on a forum?

I'm glad you removed your "too close to home" comment, oliverreed. Unfortunately for you, though, the email notification system immortalised it before you thought better of it.

I'm glad you haven't answered my question......

Oh, you actually wanted an answer did you? Such questions are normally rhetorical and so are not intended to be answered, but if you insist on perpetuating the pantomime or really don't understand then I'll explain: the comment was merely a reflection on the hysterical reaction to the content of the film that you displayed. Such ignorance is exactly what leads to tabloid-fuelled baying mobs attacking paediatricians' houses.

And re your deleted comment: if you were really insinuating that I must be a "pedo" because I had a more moderate reaction to this film than you did, then that merely emphasises how ignorant you are about the subject.

I'm glad to say that my ignorance has sheltered me away from such activities, being attacking random people or dirty old teachers abusing their positions.
