Wonderfully wacky. Absurdly hysterical. Insanely irreverent. It's the laugh-out-loud intergalactic comedy The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Based on Douglas Adams' best-selling novel and filled with out-of-this world visual and special effects, this is one ride you don't want to miss. Seconds before Earth is destroyed by the nastiest creatures in the universe, mild-mannered Arthur Dent is whisked into space by his friend, an alien in human form. And so the misadventures begin as he and fellow travellers, including a two-headed Galactic President and a paranoid android, search for answers to the mystery of life, the universe and everything.

The original radio series was by far the best - the pictures are better on the radio!

I have to agree with you, although I enjoyed the BBC TV series too, but thought the film was rubbish.

busy watching the tv series at the mo

very dated but still raises a chuckle

agre though, radio series far better

Absolute bilge compared to the radio show
But the female in it's a bit of all right !

The dolphins were good.
Fantastic book, still deserves a new BBC outing as do the Dirk Gently books.

I've never seen any of the original stuff, but I have to say I really enjoyed this movie. Zooey Deschanel makes it even better!

It's amazing how such a fantastic book could make such a rubbish movie. Only good bits are the Dolphin intro, Bill Nighy being excellent as Slaartibaagfast and seeing the original Marvin who still looks better than the new one! Douglas Adams would turn in his grave if he saw this, such a shame when he is one of the greatest writers of all time. You have not lived until you have read Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul.

cheap, but rubbish movie

Considering he co-wrote the movie, I'd imagine he had a fairly good idea of what it would have been like...

As an earlier comment mentioned, her name is Zooey Deschanel. She was in Elf with Will Ferrell. She was also in "Tin Man", the recent TV "remake" of the Wizard of Oz. And yes, she is gorgeous.
