I follow my local HMV on twitter and they just posted this saying that the hobbit 3D blu ray release price would be £15.99. Can't see why it wouldn't be national

Shame my one closed the other week.
Well I'm going to wait for the special extended version...
any idea how long this offer is going to be on for? might not be able to pick it up until the week after it comes out :L

I haven't seen the film yet so I'm going to buy this one.

And then sell it and wait for the special extended edition. (that's if I like the film, obviously)

You're in for a long wait
This film was great fun I thought, was surprised it got quite average reviews, cant see what can be added to the extended version though as it felt extended already.

Any idea what the extended scenes may be ? possibly a hobbit song or two ?

not really should be out before december 14th 2013(this year) screenrant.com/hob…te/
ordered it in store today great price
Think I'll wait till the extended edition. With LOTR they basically doubled my enjoyment by making the story flow much better. And given I preferred The Hobbit to any of the LOTR films I'm looking forward to seeing what the EE does for it.
anyone who pays £15.99 for a film is crazy.
Pre ordered from Tesco for £13 a few weeks ago after seeing posting on here, so not cheap really.

I thought it was really slow to begin with, it's like they dragged it out on purpose
Great price for 3D

Exactly, it was dragged out to fill Peter Jackson's pockets by making three films... Really didn't need it, two would've sufficed!
Not buying, but won't vote cold...

I am sure that was not for the 3D version.
I am surprised this is on the shelves and labelled now. It's not up for release until Monday.
It's 15 on Amazon with free delivery.
£16 for one film is classed as hot these days?

Dont think that is the 3D version
I didnt like this film as much as LOTR, the story telling wasnt as good, although that could be down to the fact that The Hobbit isnt as good a story anyway. I got really tired of the constant "nick of time" escapes.

I dont think £16 is a good price for this, 3D is most gimmickry really. £10 or under for me i think.

It wasn't, 3D version is £20 - amazon.co.uk/The…8-1

Yeah I'm sure he's nearly on the breadline (_;). It was dragged out I agree, but he didn't do it for the money.

You don't need to be on the breadline to be greedy
I just genuinely think that it should've been a two-parter, nothing more, nothing less, there was a lot that could've been sharpened up and edited down in the first film and I'm guessing the others will be the same... I for one won't be going to see the rest in the cinema...

Jayzus that's harsh :). It definitely did feel like a case of 'running away from danger' every few scenes, but with these kinds of stories I always prefer a bit of bloating to something that's too trim. I guess it's personal preference though - I sat through Red Cliff in one go and still managed to enjoy it hehe.

Definitely was 3d version! Have just checked!!
Is this:

- just the 3D version?

or

- 3D and 2D versions on 1 disc

or

3D & 2D versions on 2 discs?

Just wondering whether there is a quality trade-off.

Lord of the Rings is a long book. (And they still missed out loads of it).

The Hobbit is a very short children's book worthy of a single film.

They should have done The Silmarillion instead.

from what i have read the 3d version will be
3d = 2 x 50GB disc
2d = 1 x 50GB discs
extras = 1 x 50GB Disc

so 4 discs in all
Is this in 48 frames per second? :P If not, is there going to be a third or fourth or fifth edition of this? xD

Cinema tickets can cost almost £8 each these days. That's £16 for two people to watch a film once. This can be kept and watched multiple times by an infinite number of people or resold.

cinema is all about the experience, you are paying to watch the film but also the service offering. £15.99 for a film is ludicrous regardless of '3D'

Sorry missed a few of the comments when I was reading and was confirming for the people who were disbelieving the person that said that the 3D version was a pre-order for £13 at Tesco that it had been with the link showing that Tesco was briefly the cheapest place to pre-order it...has never been £13 on Amazon...only Tesco...hope that makes sense

It does because I managed to get 2 orders in from Tesco. Hoping they come through so I can sell the second to offset the cost of my copy.
