Not everyone's cup of tea but it is a good books bundle for devops (incl. software developers and system administrators)

DevOps = Development + Operations

DevOps is a software engineering culture and practice that aims at unifying software development (Dev) and software operation (Ops). The main characteristic of the DevOps movement is to strongly advocate automation and monitoring at all steps of software construction, from integration, testing, releasing to deployment and infrastructure management. DevOps aims at shorter development cycles, increased deployment frequency, and more dependable releases, in close alignment with business objectives.

Would this be useful for a first year CS student?

Would this be useful for a first year CS student?

Probably not, sadly not many courses would cover this stuff. Very useful for a future career though if they're considering going that route.

As ylssignal suggested, probably not ... don't really know what's included in first year CS nowadays as it was mainly maths (quite some time ago)

However, depending on your interests, there are useful bits of collected knowledge especially around automation and scripting. The rest would be useful when you're more acquainted with the subject

Surely it depends on whether you use PayPal's currency conversion or not?

I think it's a case of using theirs or allowing you're bank to add their charge for the conversion.

This is so far up the abstract stack from true computing, it's unreal.

Save your money and learn computing from the ground up.

If you know and understand the principles and not just the flavour of the month, you can master all aspects of computing and gain a lot of respect from peers.

I get sick of this Gartner led rubbish - it's the equivalent of the fidget spinner craze in the tech world.

Sorry - rant over.
