Description
THE GLOBAL BESTSELLER

Sitting quietly in his room in an old people's home, Allan Karlsson is waiting for a party he doesn't want to begin. His one-hundredth birthday party to be precise. The Mayor will be there. The press will be there. But, as it turns out, Allan will not . . .

Escaping (in his slippers) through his bedroom window, into the flowerbed, Allan makes his getaway. And so begins his picaresque and unlikely journey involving criminals, several murders, a suitcase full of cash, and incompetent police. As his escapades unfold, Allan's earlier life is revealed. A life in which - remarkably - he played a key role behind the scenes in some of the momentous events of the twentieth century.

Translated by Roy Bradbury.

Hope it helps someone.

Mad and hilarious caper. Always prefer to be able to hold the real thing, but this a great price for the e-book.

If anyone else prefers to have the physical book, you can pick it up in very good condition for as little as £3.50 from used book sellers on sites like Abe Books and eBay. Independent bookshops are in serious need of help at the moment, so you get a bonus warm fuzzy feeling for helping them survive!

I'm not a book reader and never have been ! But when someone suggested I should read this as a beginning to start reading I agreed......SO glad I did, made me laugh out loud and that doesn't happen very often....buy it, find a nice comfy seat, tea, coffee and begin, Enjoy

This is a hilarious and fun read that can keep you well entertained during these gloomy times.
Definitely one of the funniest books I have ever read. If this doesn't get you into reading, nothing will. Highly recommended.

Someone has spent an inordinate amount of time creating and writing a wonderful novel. The book is great and has stunning reviews in the 1000's, even at full price. Give the author a break and pay him his 0.30p royalty on the 0.99p sale price. What do you want for the future of creativity and writing? Computer generated text, passing as a book, just because Google can make it happen!!! 0.99p for a proper formatted book with great user benefits and accessibility on the Kindle platform. And, you want it for "free"!

I merely pointed out a fact, I didn't speak of my own inclinations. I read the book as a paper copy anyway. I didn't say I want it for "free", I pointed out it can be free for those inclined to look.
This is like a stranger, Nordic Forrest Gump mixed with a bit of history and crime caper. A really enjoyable read.
Perfect..nearly bought a couple of wks back at full price..cheers
Absolutely brilliant book! Get it now.
The film is currently included 'free' on Amazon Prime Video if you have an account.

Thank you. Read the book years ago and wouldn’t mind seeing the movie.
