Does it still have a really ropey framerate on the base ps4?

I played it on the base PS4 and framerate was fine I had no issues. Great story and soundtrack!

Did they ever add invert controls for the mirror?

Yep. Game is playable though for sure but framerate sure takes a hit at times, like quite a bit. But if you think you'll like the game, don't stop that from buying it.
Incredible game, frame rate is fine on PS4 pro, this doesn't need 60fps to be enjoyable

Yep. Really wanted to like this game (waited for it long enough) but the controls ruined it for me..very unresponsive and archaic. And I'm not talking about the birddog listening to you...but general all-round controls of the boys movement and interaction with objects...just a lesson in frustration. Dodgy framerate I could handle...just the controls that made it a chore. It's whats preventing me from going into last guardian too tbh.
Amazing game, played it on my ps4 pro, set TV to ultra smooth motion.

I would certainly at some point replay the whole game, very very few games these days would leave me wanting to go through the whole experience twice.

Well worth the money.
Honestly all this talk of janky controls and poor frame rate is ridiculous, you need to see the game for what it is. It’s a beautiful, immersive story about companionship. I think expectations are just too high in this day and age. If you want to see poor framerate and controls, take a trip back to 1984 and have a blast at Disco Dan on the Spectrum.

Same price it's been for the last few times in the sale...
Marmite game. I love it but you may hate it. A bit like some people love this new breed of walking simulator like Layers of Fear but I hate them.

Doesn't change the fact the frame rate and controls muddy what is potentially an epic game. You shouldn't feel frustrated playing and that was what I primarily felt. It's a shame as I waited from the ps3 reveal.

I didn’t experience any of the issues you speak of.
Waiting until it's free on psn, give it a few more month's

If you want an example of poor controls I thought Shadow of the Colossus was far worse, it made the game an absolute chore to play. I found myself leaving the horse behind and walking to my destination....

Are you on a ps4 Pro?
Phenomenal game, in spite of frame rate & control hiccups. Has its frustrating moments for sure, but it’s a steal at that price.
MrSprkle11 h, 53 m ago

The frame-rate is 60fps at 1080p on the PS4 Pro.

It really isn't don't spread false info.

Ignorance is bliss eh? It's fine if you enjoyed the game and weren't bothered by these issues, more power to you. Personally I found the game to be an exercise in frustration. Horrible controls and camera, inconsistent performance, archaic ps2 era gameplay. There is no complete machine learning going on under the hood like some people try to make out, when Trico doesn't do what you want him to do it's because you, him or both just aren't stood on the right spot.

Trico animates well and the set pieces are really cool, but I found this pretty painful to play for the most part. Saw it through the end and was glad to see the credits roll.

I’ve been playing video games for over 4 decades, I’ve seen some bad games in my time, this is nowhere near being a bad game. I think my tolerance/threshold for determining what makes a bad game is perhaps higher than average.

And that's my point really, some people couldn't care less about frame rate/resolution etc. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I struggled to enjoy the original shadow of the colossus on ps2, it was just too jank. Playing the remaster on a pro at 60fps is infinitely more enjoyable to me however.
I’ve played games for 30 years, that’s not usually a defence I’d give, but people have made that arguement here...

I loved the game, it was my favourite game that year along side Inside and The Witness. Yes it’s not perfect, but no game is and the kind of issues people bring up like framerate and controls.... they didn’t bother me because all the developers games have had the same issues.

For me it’s main game mechanic was empathy, if you feel no empathy for Trico, you will most likely not like the game. I see people moaning about the creature not doing what you want, for me that just felt natural. I have to tell my Dogs several times as well, sometimes they never understand and I have to encourage them.

I loved the game and it’s one of the few with a good ending.

Edit: Plus I’m mainly a PC gamer, I only play exclusives on a console. I do not care about framerate or graphics, they aren’t important to me. We used to play Goldeneye at 10-15 FPS... at least his game is mostly stable st 30. Graphics are more than polygons and resolution, for me the animations stand out and more than make up for it.

It's funny isn't it? How all those people who should really be the professional game reviewers are too busy posting on HUKD.

It is games like this that can help creative and artistic single player games survive the tsunami of uninspiring micro transaction driven multiplayer ones.....

The game is wonderful but a product of its time, it does feel as though the game is incomplete in some ways its lacking in the amount of Guardians by today's standards, and its pretty much rinse and repeat on tactics but its otherwise very enjoyable and at £11.99 its a great price.

A product of its time? Didn’t this game come out a little over a year ago?

And I quite agree, the performance mode on SOTC is excellent!

Yes see my comment below.

That makes sense now! I haven’t played either game yet so wouldn’t have known the things you were referring to were in a different game!
