Not exactly cheap, but this is the lowest the game has been sold for thus far I think.

Why is this getting cold? Is this on for cheaper somewhere else?

Cheapest so far, I really want to play this as 'Ico' was one of my favourite games of all time.

Very tempting, as I want to play it on Christmas.

Almost finished this. Really enjoying it. There are a few irritating parts, but not nearly as difficult to control as the reviews suggest, as far as i'm concerned.

Best price so far! But still holding out for ~£25!

Its a fantastic game. We will never see anything like it again. Just like Ico and SOTC were unique experiences.
The controls do feel heavy to start with and a little strange but as you progress through the game you quickly get used to it.

£30 in Game and £25 in Sainsbury's, apparently.

Always sad to see highly-anticipated games failing to deliver on release, especially after the absolute brilliance of Shadow of the Colossus. I saw so many comments about people just buying a PS3 for this, and then having to buy a PS4. All that for just another 8/10 game.

£30 in a single GAME store, and that Sainsbury's deal turned out to be bogus.

The rest of your comment reads like a forced troll attempt.

£30 was in one new Game store as an opening Weekend offer, £25 at Sainsbury's was an incorrect post and didn't exist. Please let me know where this is currently cheaper?

Sorry, hadn't realised you worked on the game yourself (? If you didn't work on the game yourself, who exactly am I trolling?).

It's slightly more than just another example of why pre-ordering is senseless. In this case, it's all the worse, for people who'd bought consoles for it! Or didn't you ever see any of those comments by people saying they'd bought a PS3 for The Last Guardian?

...Have I just been trolled? oO

Anyway, I'm sorry I was only right about the Game offer, and not the Sainsbury's price. I suppose it was getting cold votes for being £38 for a barely 8/10 game, then - it's only a saving of £1 off the pre-order price, or £2 less than the special pre-order which included the soundtrack/PS4 faceplate.

The best price at any given moment doesn't automatically make anything a hot deal, obviously.

I don't really have any sympathy for people who bought a PS3 for The Last Guardian, because if pre-ordering is "senseless" as you say, then buying a console for an unreleased game is just outright stupidity.

And 8/10 is a perfectly respectable score, especially for a game that was in development hell as long as this. The fact that it's currently sitting at 83 on Metacritic with reviews ranging from average to positively glowing is not representative of a "barely 8/10 game" at all.

As for why the deal is being voted cold, I don't really care about that.

83 from reviews, 76 from users. The average of those is under 80, FYI (either the basic average of the two overalls, or the average of each individual score).

I mentioned the other prices in direct response to someone asking why the deal was cold. If you were right and it wasn't the cheaper price elsewhere, I was simply pointing out some alternatives. It's lovely to hear that you don't care about something you commented on, though. Cheers for letting us know.

We've waited 9 years for this.
I think I'll wait a couple of months more for a £20-25 price

The fact that you're putting any stock into Metacritic user scores is laughable in itself, considering most of them are written by fanboys on both sides who haven't played the game. It happens with all the time with video game exclusives, they get purposefully marked down or up just to make the platform look better/worse. They mean absolutely nothing. Read some forum posts by people who have actually played the game and you'll find that, for the most part, the response to the game is very positive overall.

I don't mind the deal being voted cold, but what I do mind are when the reasons given are wholly inaccurate, and that's what I was commenting on. One of your alternatives was flat out wrong, and just because the game is £30 in one store in Soho, that does not automatically mean that everyone who wants the game is going to be able travel to London to get it at that price. It's just not a viable option for most people who browse this site.

For a deal which is available to everyone, this is the cheapest price so far. Regardless of differing opinions on the merit of the game itself it's a hot from me.

Soho deal comes with a free massage, not sure it includes a happy ending though

I find the fact that you put so much stock into paid-for-by-publisher "critic reviews" laughable as well. I don't think either has a particularly strong merit over the other. Although this may be an area where you're not particularly well-read or experienced, so you blindly assume (apparently, from your earlier comment) that all critic reviews are fair, independent, and unimpeachable. Ah, to be young again. X)

My views on the game were purely from forum comments and what my friends have said about the game, actually - you were the one who brought up Metacritic, and it happens to correspond exactly with what I've been hearing and reading from others who have played the game. It's not as if there's a huge disparity between 76 and 83 that backs up your petulant response, after all.

I think you may be less angry in future if you just add a little note into your deal description: "Please no negative comments about the item, as they upset me." And perhaps a change of username is also in order.

I'm not angry at all, and if people want to vote cold on this deal and explain why then they're well entitled to. But if you're going to state factually incorrect information like your examples of cheaper alternative deals and hyperbolic nonsense like "just another 8/10 game," then I have no problem calling it out, which is what I did. And accusing me of being petulant when faced by your stream of condescending passive-aggressive remarks and childish emoticons is even more laughable.

Are all press reviews fair and unimpeachable? No, probably not. But they're still a whole lot more dependable and respected than Metacritic scores, where anybody can sign up and post their impressions, whether they're genuine or not. Talk of disparity goes out the window when you realise that any user score for an exclusive is just a battleground for the fanboys. It's a completely irrelevant metric to base a game's quality on.

It's definitely not £24.99 in Sainsbury's. I was in there this afternoon and it was £42.99.

I'm loving how quickly games fall in price these days. This is extremely likely to be 25ish quid in a month or so.

Hold the line.

Errr... you called me a troll for describing it as an 8/10 game and mentioning how I was disappointed after hoping it would be as great as its predecessor. Your correction on that point? It is, in "fact", an eight point threeeeee!!! I'm surprised you managed to type out your troll accusation after reading something so distressing.

If you go around accusing people of simply trolling on your deals if they share their opinion on the item, it does make you look a little bit upset/oversensitive. (I'm starting to think one of those 10/10 scores from Metacritic users belongs to you. )

And on a technical point, people may still have been voting cold on this item because they'd seen the titles of those other £25/£30 deals, so that may well be a factually correct reason behind the cold votes. I certainly thought this had been £30 already. Oh, and it has!

agree, this game was really disappointing. You can tell a lot of people are forcing themselves to like it because they think they should......10 years development for this is a joke.

Then I play games like Dishonoured 2, which was made in. 2 years and blows this away.

Just because something is outwardly 'arty', doesn't make it a masterpiece. Ultimately a game should be judged by its gameplay & controls, and that is where last Guardian is a complete mess.

this is a FAR superior game and £10 cheaper for limited edition.

It's also a highly different game.
One's a FPS and the other is a puzzle based action adventure.
That's the thing, if you are looking for a third person puzzle platformer with an AI companion, which is not based around manic action, there really aren't many alternatives.
The closest I can think of - apart from their previous games of course - is something like Papo and Yo, but here the bird/dog equivalent is not a friend, but an enemy.
Rime looks like it could have a similar vibe, but again, no Trico. And it's not out til 2017.
