Experience the escalating moral conflicts created by Ellie's relentless pursuit of vengeance. The cycle of violence left in her wake will challenge your notions of right versus wrong, good versus evil, and hero versus villain.

Set out on Ellie's journey, taking her from the peaceful mountains and forests of Jackson to the lush, overgrown ruins of greater Seattle. Encounter new survivor groups, unfamiliar and treacherous environments, and terrifying evolutions of the infected. Brought to life by the latest iteration of the Naughty Dog engine, the deadly characters and world are more realistic and meticulously detailed than ever before.

New and evolved gameplay systems deliver upon the life-or-death stakes of Ellie's journey through the hostile world. Feel her desperate struggle for survival through improved features such as high-intensity melee combat, fluid movement, and dynamic stealth. A broad variety of weapons, crafting items, skills, and updates allows you to personalise Ellie's capabilities to your play style.

It's a bold game for better or worse, and goes on a bit too long, but man it's still a heck of a game and effort.

As with the first game, I strongly recommend playing on at least a step above Normal difficulty. Makes these games much better and play more like a survival horror game with more limited ammo and whatnot, forcing you to explore and be smarter and use all the capabilities at your disposal. Feels quite balanced for harder difficulties as well, very little BS. (edited)

Counterpoint: play these games on an easier difficulty and just enjoy the story.

There's no way this was ever going to be as good as the first game. However it's nowhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. It's still a very immersive, haunting and enjoyable game, it also looks and runs fantastic on a PS5

I did not enjoy it. Bland, get to the next door gameplay, unlikeable characters with a poorly written plot. Completely atrocious ending

I don’t think it has a PS5 versions, it has a performance update for ps5 but it’s not a new title.

Last of us late one has had a ps5 overall, it’s basically the same game but with much better visuals and better enemy ai and combat

    Does it matter?

The "gaming industry", which are the journos and woak devs, had insane meltdowns on twitter with the success that Elden Ring had. They do not understand why people love it and how it challenges their bland formulas and greedy monetization schemes

I really enjoyed this, went into it months later after reading all the negative reviews regarding the story and character arcs and yes, whilst that side is disappointing for fans of the characters in part 1, if you just focus on it as a game and not a continuation it’s outstanding.

Some of the relentless bone crunching violence is just too much, and I really, really struggled with the torture scene, I found that sickening and disturbing, as it’s meant to be of course!

    *spoliers ahead*

I played TLOU in PS4 when I bought a PS4 to play Uncharted 4. I thought Uncharted 4 was incredible and TLOU seemed a let down after that game but as I played it more it is just one of the best story led games ever made. I didn't buy TLOU2 until Black Friday this year. Totally different vibe to the TLOU2 but still incredible, very brutal game, with a brutal storyline and a brutal ending. I competed it in just over 30 hours. Amazing how these games get you so invested in the story that the story affects you emotionally for days after. I can't say I enjoyed the ending, but TLOU2 is so much more than a revenge game it's a game about life/human condition and things don't always work out. It's a very human game. Maybe they can make TLOU3 and that has a happy ending but it's Naughty Dog would they even do that? There is scope to make TLOU3 but maybe it's the not knowing anymore about Ellie's story that makes the game. Unanswered questions that beg to be answered but may never be or may be answered in another brutal way.

I think TLOU2 is a masterpiece and years later more people will come to recognise it. It's not perfect, going to the farm, then going for more revenge and coming back to the farm was a bit jarring. I don't think I could play it again not for quite some time as it has such a brutal unrelenting story.
