Introducing Geralt the Witcher - revered and hated - who holds the line against the monsters plaguing humanity in the bestselling series that inspired the Witcher video games and a major Netflix show.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, a man whose magic powers and lifelong training have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin.

Yet he is no ordinary killer: he hunts the vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent.

But not everything monstrous-looking is evil; not everything fair is good . . . and in every fairy tale there is a grain of truth.

Andrzej Sapkowski, winner of the World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award, started an international phenomenon with his Witcher series. The Last Wish is the perfect introduction to this one-of-a-kind fantasy world.

Fantastic books, the whole series
I'm about to start reading the 5 book series. I don't bother with these 0.5, 1.5 etc. add-on books (or side stories.) Decent price though if you do.
...brilliant books, but Netflix take on them, sadly, is pants and I enjoyed more watching their Polish adaptation
Finally got round to start watching The Witcher series last night and wow its impressive. If Henry Caville isnt offered the Bond role the producers need sectioning.
This deal is super hot, thanks OP

The first two books may be short stories but they set up the events of the main 5 book saga so you will miss out by not reading them first.
Is it worth reading Season of storms before the main saga? I'm currently on the 2nd book of the short stories
These short stories are the best of Sapkowski's writing; Feel much more like the tale of little quests in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt video game.

The full novels on the other hand, are a bit heavy going.
Its a good prequel to Game of Thrones, im hoping they bring back Ned Stark next series!

Great idea, but difficult to fit a Sean Bean there. You know he has to die in every TV show now...

I'm just listening to the series now. Most reading orders I've seen recommend skipping it and reading it at the end. Its next chronologically but chronological doesn't always make sense with the witcher books. Really enjoying the 2nd book myself too...
Are these suitable for a 13/14yr old? Many thanks

Would you think Game of Thrones was suitable? Personally no.

The type of Gamer not to do the side quests, I expect

Good book, it's focused on the monster hunting part - whereas the saga doesn't really. Silly (imo) skipping the short stories. I mean sure, you don't *have* to read them, but what's the point even starting in that case?
If one wants to read the story before watching the series, is this the best one/only one required?
Is the series based on The Last Wish so far?
I already have them all on Kindle, but not read any.
Would prefer to read it before watching the series I think.

The series is roughly based on this and the second book (sword of destiny?) but these books cover more (and more detail). I've just watched the series and read both books. Just starting of book 3 because I can't wait a year for season 2!
