Wished I'd waited seeing this here deal. Good spot.

It only came in stock today

for once I didn't get impatient and waited for the right price point for me - I wouldn't have had time to play it much before now anyway

iits a great game but cant believe how much they are charging this. £48 being the cheapest ever, with most place selling £55ish up to £60. heck, they even jack up the WIIU version price to £48 to justified the switch version.

Hopefully the switch game price will drop back to £40.

Just don't buy it then lol

It is the most I've ever paid for a game and almost feel like I have to get it now as there is just nothing else out there with a lot of depth

Would have usually waited longer but wanted a game to take on holiday for flights etc... - plus Nintendo prices often go up rather than down in the short term!

I see no reason to treat Nintendo games as any different than Sony or MS ones. £48 would be too expensive for a standard edition of a game (regardless of its quality) on PS4 or XB1 with a little pin, so I'm voting cold on this.

That is a steal. The badge is going for £20 on the bay..

I am old school and remember paying £100 for Super Famicom version of Street Fighter II back in 1992 and £120 for Japanese N64 Mario Kart. And you know what, I dont regret it one bit.

Original Poster

Nice. A friend of mine paid a crazy amount for Street fighter ii turbo. Many hours were lost playing that

I don't have an issue with he price as such. Just I don't usually get round to playing games at release as have such a back log that I can normally wait for the drop! But I want to get good use out of my switch and can't ignore what everyone is saying about this

I can't see any mention of the pin badge on the site- is it included?

Anyone know if the switch version is significantly better than the Wii U?

my order has been dispatched with it - looks like maybe the pin as been removed from the site though now sorry

Wanted this for the pin badge sold out with it

I got it for the Wii U from Argos at £47.99. I've not paid full price for a game upon release since GTA: San Andreas. I feel no regret with either purchase

Really??? I got the badge and it looks awful, off to eBay I go.....

LOL

Instead of buying this game on cartridge it's probably best to wait for a nice deal from cdkeys/wherever. Digital Foundry highlighted yesterday that larger Switch games, especially so this game, have much slower loading times when bought on cartridge.

Digital Foundry showed that for the optimum experience it's best to buy such games via digital distribution and store them on Switch's internal flash memory. If your Switch's 25.9GB of internal flash memory is full then the next best option is to download games to a third-party memory card which gives slightly slower loading times but still not as slow as game cartridges.

interesting - I actually prefer method this (digital vs disc) on PS4 but had assumed cartridge should be comparable to micro sd at least on the switch

That was also my and I'm guessing most other people's assumption too. Digital Foundry speculated that memory cards are slightly slower than the internal flash memory because Switch only ever saves game progress to its internal flash memory.

As to why Switch game cartridges are so much slower then hopefully Digital Foundry or another tech' site will have an explanation at some point. More importantly, hopefully it's something Nintendo are able and are willing to fix in the future either via a firmware update or possibly from using better quality components in Switch game cartridges.

If it's a hardware design issue then hopefully they'll remedy it with a subsequent console hardware revision which obviously won't help existing Switch owners but that's sometimes the price one pays for being an early adopter.

those who say nintendo games cost too much now, thank god you weren't around when thr snes was in its prime! I paid more than this for Star fox... back then.. works out about £100 in today's money....gulp.

I remember paying £65 for Super Street Fighter II on the mega drive and even further back £45 for Mega Man 2 on the NES. Don't regret either, they were awesome

Yea, you got me. £25 for Bloodborne which included the expansion is almost the same amount as BoTW. at £48 its a bargain that worth every penny. heck Nintendo should increase the price because this is too cheap for such a great game

well, it wasn't really comparable. Gaming was new tech then, that why its expensive. i mean Blu-ray player cost $1000 at release, doesnt mean its ok now

I love this game. Would definitely recommend it. Most expensive game I've ever bought but well worth it- the graphics are amazing!

Amazing game, if you're on the fence then I'd say get it now at this price. You won't regret it and it's very unlikely it will be much cheaper in the future, being a Nintendo game.

Unless people actually vote with their wallets..

Is it worth getting special edition for resale value later

Mine arrived already.. to anyone that missed out on the badge.. I wouldn't lose any sleep.. its worse that the "present" for getting all 900 korok seeds..

I find this justification of pricing quite worrying. Especially in conjunction with ignoring issues that many games face. Hopefully the bulk of it is down to them trying to milk the new release, but I don't really want this to be the norm. I kind you not that I've seen people pretty much express totally seriously that you should be expected to pay about a grand for some game that has quite a few issues and huge lasting connection issues that are even shown on their own streams.

I'm sure similar will happen to xbox scorpio or a ps5, but I hope prices don't keep creeping up past that. I've seen quite a few games milk it in some form.

Very happy with their service. I ordered late afternoon yesterday and I just received it with the badge.

im so pleased been waiting for a while for this game to come into stock i refuse to pay £59.99 for a digital copy

id take slightly lower loading and a residual value than a digital game you're stuck with forever.

Best open world game I've played since Fallout 3. If you're on the fence just go for it!

A HUGE single player game hasn't felt this good for years!

the switch is really pushing the definition of 'deal' to breaking point

You can easily get 50 quids worth of game out of this title so id say its worth its price tag. Works out less than 50p a shrine lol. X)

And you must be 704? Do trolls live that long?

When I picked up my Switch Smyths we're offering Zelda for £40. Lovely.

Complete bargain, I have spent £1000's on games in the last 4 years and nothing has come close to the experience that this Zelda has offered. This is the first game in years I am actually still enjoying after spending 50+ hours of exploring the world.

It never gets tedious or repetitive and even after spending so much time playing I am still uncovering new areas, interesting secrets and the shrines are great fun.
