This parable tells the story of an air pilot who meets a Little Prince when he has to make a forced landing in the Sahara Desert. The Little Prince tells him wise and enchanted stories.

You could be excused for thinking that this book is one containing a simple story for young children about a Little Prince. How wrong you would be! This is far from the truth: it is much more. It is a complex story containing lots of ambiguities about a child with golden hair. It was written and published more than 50 years ago in the USA, and the author was a Frenchman who illustrated the book himself; it was later translated by Kathryn Woods. The Little Prince is still very popular and has now been translated into many languages. Shortly after it was first written, the author died--disappearing together with his plane somewhere over the Mediterranean.

OH MY GOD. I detest this book. SO boring!! I read Austen, alongside autobiographies and 'candy floss' chick lit books (no substance to them) But I have never come across a book I find impossible to get on with.

Goodness help any child who has their parent try and read this to them. I gave mine to a charity shop.

No I REALLY don't like this book. There is barely any storyline and the language is so complicated and disjointed that children struggle to follow it and adults just give up!

*shudders at the thought of it*

Strange but I actually agree with both andy and H_K.
I personally enjoyed the book but I was 26ish when I read it..... could never understand how kids would love it as I found the prose a little complicated too for a kiddie book...

beautiful beautiful book, but given it when I was 19 - i think it's one of those "children's" books that adults get the most from
