Cheapest it's ever been - In the second part of the Tolkien trilogy, Frodo Baggins and the other members of the Fellowship continue on their sacred quest to destroy the One Ring--but on separate paths. Their destinies lie at two towers--Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupt wizard Saruman awaits, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor.

Only HD if anyone is wondering.
Excellent price
Ah, yes. Just need a cheap deal for the final film and I can chuck the extended dvds away

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think there’s a 4K version in the iTunes Store yet

I don't even think there is a disc version in 4K, hopefully when they do release it they'll upgrade this version too.
Thanks OP, purchased.

Valid points!

Seems crazy that a film series as big as this doesn't even have a 4k release yet

Sadly the iTunes versions only have about 10% of the extra features.

A 20th Anniversary re-release in 2021 would be my guess.

Do we really buy films though based on extra features. How many of these features do we actually watch.

I remember when dvds were new, I was excited with all these two disc editions. Truth is I don't believe I ever watched any of them.

Still useful though for people to know who do want these things.

I didn’t even watch that many first time around so I’m even less bothered now, but it’s a valid point if you like the additional stuff

When I was younger relying on pocket money to buy a new DVD every second week, and had a ton of free time to kill, I usually watched all the extras on any DVD I bought. The Extended LOTR extras were amazing, I think it took about 20-30 hours to get through them all, and it was all pretty interesting stuff.

Now I'm older and can buy as many Blurays as I want, I usually don't even get round to watching the movies as I have so little free time compared to poor kid me

Time is certainly a factor. Why bother with the extras when you can just buy another film for 3.99 and watch that instead.

Have they ever had a decent deal on the box set/all films on iTunes (?) rather than buying individually
I find it strange only the second film is on offer but the rest aren’t?

Fellowship was a while back, I got it then, same price I think.

No doubt the final one will be in a month or so.

I suspect there are two different questions here:

“Do we really buy films though based on extra features.”

...yes, I think many do. I absolutely do; I see it as “value for money”, and I may well undoubtedly watch them in the future*.

“How many of these features do we actually watch.”

None at all. I’m genuinely a total sucker! I’ll be more tempted to buy because of the extras... I’ll just never actually watch them. I have an extensive library to back that up (both optical and digital).

I think the answer to both of these questions can be true. I’m sure that’s where the money is! I’m a total sucker. I can’t help myself; I know I’m an idiot! C.//Xxx.

The best features IMO are the audio commentaries/ I store disks on my media player. Ive never found a converter (paid or free) that retains these.
