Really good book, great delivered price.
My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973. My murderer was a man from our neighborhood. My mother liked his border flowers, and my father talked to him once about fertilizer. This is Susie Salmon. Watching from heaven, Susie sees her happy, suburban family devastated by her death, isolated even from one another as they each try to cope with their terrible loss alone. Over the years, her friends and siblings grow up, fall in love, do all the things she never had the chance to do herself. But life is not quite finished with Susie yet ..."The Lovely Bones" is a luminous and astonishing novel about life and death, forgiveness and vengeance, memory and forgetting - but, above all, about finding light in the darkest of places. 'Spare, beautiful and brutal prose ..."The Lovely Bones" is compulsive enough to read in a single sitting, brilliantly intelligent, elegantly constructed and ultimately intriguing.' - "The Times". 'Moving and compelling ...It will put an imperceptible but stealthily insistent hold on you.I sat down in the morning to read the first couple of pages; five hours later, I was still there, book in hand, transfixed.' - Maggie O'Farrell, "Sunday Telegraph".

Out of stock - Boo!

I remember it as a very dark and disturbing book. I can't believe they've made a film of it, it's not one i'll be watching.

But...others see it as an uplifting thing...so take my view with a pinch of salt.

For info, also £2.99 on Amazon.

It's not out of stock for me ,I just purchased it.

Supposedly the movie isn't as sombre or dark as the book. Peter Jackson … Supposedly the movie isn't as sombre or dark as the book. Peter Jackson was the wrong type of director for this type of film in my opinion. It needed somebody like Brad Anderson (The Machinist), or Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream)

Very true, or perhaps Park Chan Wook (Sympathy for Lady vengeance, Old Boy, Thirst)

Intrigued to see the not so dark take on the novel, within the movie.

Nice find man.

Hm, sorry m8, can't buy it, don't want to cry.

Never read the book but have seen the film, quite shocked that it is only rated 12A.

When I go to Order confirmation order status is 'Out of stock'

The movie has no rape scene and has the disturbing elements removed to make it more family friendly. It's been said in an interview with the director that parents can watch with children and discuss parts of the movie!!! Can't say I'll be watchig with my boys.

just reading it now before i see the movie!

got it from asda in the 2 for £5 promo though (think its still on)

Thought PJ done a very good job on this one

one of the weidest films i have seen in years but in a good way. Stanley Tucci is frightening as the serial killer and good performances from both young sisters in the film. The film is a cross between a Disney film and a serial killer movie - thats how weird it seems at times

Its £3.86 in Tesco's and also in their long running 2 for £7 book promo
