349.99 pounds. This is the lowest price I can find. Other shops usually do 399.99 pounds. It's a better choice if you are looking for a DSLR for beginners. It has better reviews than Nikon D40.

The features:
Built-in Shake Reduction via CCD-shift
High resolution, APS-C size 6.1-Megapixel CCD image sensor
2.5-inch, 210,000-pixel color LCD monitor

16-segment metering with Multi-Segment, Spot and Center-weighted options
11-point autofocus (SAFOX VIII) with Auto, Manual or Center AF point selection
Shutter speeds from 1/4000 to 30 seconds plus Bulb
Auto pop-up flash with red-eye reduction
2.8fps Continuous capture
Noise reduction function
Uses removable Secure Digital flash memory cards
High-speed USB 2.0 connectivity
Powered by 4 AA batteries or 2 CR-V3 Li-ion batteries
Optional wireless remote controller and wired cable release

The Pentax K100D combines 6.1 effective megapixels with a host of advanced technologies including a Shake Reduction (SR) system to deliver high-quality digital SLR photography and user-friendly operation to all levels of photographers. The ease of use, advanced features, and attractive price also make the Pentax K100D digital SLR a perfect choice for users moving up from a point-and-shoot camera. Both the K100D and the K110D reflect a new digital SLR naming system that references the reverse compatibility that each body has with the legacy of Pentax K-mount lenses.
The Pentax-developed Shake Reduction (SR) system in the K100D effectively offers a two-stop advantage for sharp, blur-free images even under difficult shooting conditions, such as when using a telePhoto lens or shooting in low light without a flash. The SR mechanism is designed to minimize camera shake by oscillating the CCD image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed using magnetic force, while adjusting the speed of oscillation in proportion to the amount of camera shake detected by a built-in sensor. As a result, the system does not require special anti-shake lenses and can be used with almost all existing Pentax interchangeable lenses.

Yeah, I saw that, as I had never heard of them either

Welcome to HotUKDeals and Thanks for the post ;-)

I tried posting this deal yesterday, but obviously screwed up somewhere :x
I've just added information about free delivery using code AP231206
Jacobs are a long established photo chain, I like them. More like Jessops used to be a few years ago ... (no connection except as a satisfied customer)

Cheers

it looks like not many people are interested.

If anybody know any voucher codes for it, please let us know.

if we can make the price to 300 pounds, that will be the greastest dslr in the market.

We've got about three or four Jacob's branches in Leicester. Two are in the city centre. They are a legitimate company.

Thanks for the deal.

the code AP231206 doesn't work now:oops:

Hi Marquis, I am about to get a DSLR. I am between the K100d and the D40. I have seen pretty good reviews on the D40 and one major good one on K100d, this on the Wired test Magazine a couple of months ago. Can you explain why this is better than the D40??

Thanks again...

Check out the Sony A100 too.

Have a look at this direct comparison with the d40:

dpreview.com/rev…asp

I think they are probably just as good, some pros and cons on both...

Would love either a K100D, or (ideally) a K10D... would go very well with my old Pentax lenses... but until funds allow, stuck with the old Super A body which is rapidly gathering dust. :whistling:

would go very well with my old Pentax lenses

I think if you've got older pentax lenses it's well worth it, specially with that price. I just went quickly to the Jacobs to check it out, and the one thing that I really didn't like is the Battery system.. it uses 4 x AA, making it much heavier than the d40 and canon eos 400d. Also having to buy or recharge this battery seems a bit annoying...

K100d and D40, both are excellent for beginners.

In my opinion, K100d is the better choice since it has shake reduction system and 50 pounds less than D40.

The battery of k100d is a not bad design, you can use normal 4xAA batteries instead of 4 rechargeable batteries when they suddenly run out.

Pentax also has lots of lense choice and much cheaper than nikon.

hope these may give you a little help.

A100 is not on the same level as the K100d and D40.

it is more than 100-150 pounds expensive. A100 should compare with Nikon D70s,D80 and canon 400d.
