I think this is more than double this price anywere else

I got this for my 5 year old when it was posted last year and he loves it ..... he is also reading these books at school

Definitely hot from me!

Did everyone else get 'out of stock' on the checkout page? I presumed this was because of the 1-2 week wait... hope they don't cancel.

They love both the books and the dvd as they are fun and a good read and watch

I encouraged my son to watch the dvd so he could get to know the characters a bit better and be able to read it to himself using there voices .... if that makes sense ..... worked anyway *shrugs*

These bring back some memories! They were great at school!

Because we live in a multimedia world? Watching doesn't diminish most childrens desire to read and DVDs aren't always available eg. travelling.

The past week I helped a friends child to make a stop motion film as part of their Easter homework, I'd have loved to do such things when I was their age.

Yes, but.

Children NEED literacy. There are thousands of DVDs. Fortunately books like the ORP have begun to get children reading again.

Multimedia is fine - but literacy is vital. As for travelling, why not get them conversing with mum and dad in the car, rather than sticking on a DVD?

I think you misunderstood I'm not suggesting using a DVD in a car. My personal experience is that nothing gets in the way of reading with my child, are yours different?

I have worked in many primary schools who have used these videos/dvds as part of the literacy hour to supplement the use of the reading scheme. Not all children learn to read in the same way and the use of these cartoons has helped their reading skills overall, not hindered them.
