Stephen Chow directs this fantasy drama starring Yun Lin as the mermaid Shan. When business tycoon Liu Xuan (Chao Deng) buys the Green Gulf with the intention of reclaiming some of the land from the sea, the technology used causes the marine life in the area to die. The surviving merpeople who reside in the Gulf decide to send one of their own, Shan, who is able to disguise herself among humans, so she can assassinate Liu Xuan and put an end to the deaths. The assassination attempt doesn't go to plan, however, as Shan develops feelings for the entrepreneur.

Any good of a film?

It's not as good as his earlier films, Kung Fu Hustle would be hard to beat, but it's a nice film with some lovely set pieces. I enjoyed it, if there was a HMV near me with one in stock I'd probably pick it up.

I thought it was brilliant, really enjoyed it. The steelbook looks great too.

I really really enjoyed it - many laugh out loud moments of slapstick and physical comedy including those from actors who mimic Stephen Chow's style of comedy acting.

Kung Fu Hustle was one of his most Western-friendly films - that probably contributed to it's appeal. This movie was geared more towards lovers of his films and of hong kong films in general.

Edit: I should remind others that while this is a Stephen Chow directed movie, he doesn't act in it.

This is a funny scene from the movie that doesn't give away the funniest bits - Police Station scene - youtube.com/wat…lMY

Cheers OP, will have to keep an eye out for this. In addition to other comments I personally preferred Shaolin Soccer to Kung Fu Hustle. Notwithstanding the fact that a large proportion of the cast appear in both movies!

Great visuals, good lead actress - nearly had me spit out my tea when I saw her flirting. More cute and slapstick than a classic.
