Cheers not sure if it tracked or what % lol

You may want to reconsider buying North Face garments with goose down after reading the below. It may turn your stomach.

telegraph.co.uk/ear…tml

in other words TNF (and other manufacturers) were buying feathers from suppliers who were sourcing some feathers from farms that were breeding (and ultimately killing) geese for another purpose. Your article is
1) a bit of a non-story.
2) 2 years old. Given TNF and Patagonia discovered the practice and started attempting to source more ethical down 2 years ago, do you know they didnt succeed before urging us to boycott TNF?

If you are after a size large, this is a much better jacket with a much better down fill power;

It doesn't cost too much extra either (£86 after discount)

Definitely a better jacket by miles, not sure about the colour.

I would have got it if it were in size XL. As for the colour, most of the Marmot jackets are a little garish (http://marmot.com/products/details/ama-dablam-jacket#). It's a really nice technical jacket though - I've no idea why Millets are supplying it!!

An even better jacket @ £99 - rockrun.com/rab…et/
Rab consistently win awards for their technical equipment...and that is incredibly cheap! £99 is just a little beyond what I am willing to pay

The Rab jacket is fantastic, bought the baselayer last week same site

They don't have any XL left, could you order a large into the store then exchange it for a bigger size in store from one of the ones they are selling and still get it for the price you paid online. Can you do that

You could...I would be surprised if they have stock though - in my experience, Blacks and Millets rarely have that much stock available in store.

Can't see the superdry logo on it anywhere?

Be mindful that you shouldn't wear down jackets in wet weather.

Really honest comparison between synthetic and natural down here.

I'm looking for a winter coat for general use in UK. What would you guys recommend? Budget in around £100 but flexible. Thx

Love Haglofs gear,no hood on this though.

Thanks for your help, miffyl. I'm leaning towards the rab one based purely on looks. I'm not sure what size to go for though. I recently bought a berghaus down jacket but it was far too small in the arms.

I'm also looking for an insulated jacket around the £100 mark. Depends when and how you want to use it - mine will be for belaying and watching my lad training/playing football. Although the climbing will always be in the dry, I can't say the same about the rest of the time. As such, I'm going for a synthetic down rather than natural.

This is a decent article - ukclimbing.com/gea…457.

Go Outdoors have the Rab Generator Alpine for £101 and also the Rab Arete for £99 which is duck (not goose which is apparently better) down for £99 - the latter will be warmer but has no hood though and although it has a hydrophobic treatment, can't be used in wet weather. The Arete will be warmer than the jacket originally posted though as it has 650 FPD (fill power down) compared to 550 FPD. This is really helpful as well - ellis-brigham.com/adv…de/

If you do your research, you can get the Montane Flux for much less than retail (around our price point).

I bought one of these online before Christmas, but returned it as no drawstring around the waist so I was worried it would be draughty. Instead I ordered a Jack Wolfskin Osorno jacket from Cotswold outdoor, and am well pleased:
