Using the £1 vouchers they hand out like business cards, you can get the first season of this cracking show for a fiver, not bad! Cheapest everywhere else is between £7 and £8.

And for the sceptics among us who haven't seen any of it yet and think it will be another terrible American conversion, it is absolutely not! Steve Carell gives a stellar performance and makes the show. A must for only a fiver surely!

great deal! loved the office and love seeing it carry on all be it american!

i was just looking at this from hmv for £7! saved me some cash, thanks!!

That's what she said.

I never found the Office funny - until i got a job in an office. But i still don't rate the US one. It has it's moments, but it just isn't as good. This is a gerat price, but it certainly isn't something I'd choose to buy.

I liked the US version. It would surely have got higher ratings had we not already seen the proper one. ;-)

US Office rules.

The UK Office is brilliantly short and sweet and is obviously the benchmark for the American series.

But IMO the US version is fantastic, the writing is great (better in the latter series when they stop directly ripping off the UK version), the acting is superb and the characters are excellent (Dwight Schrute is better than the one eyed chap from Pirates of the Carribean).

i loved the english one but i think the american one is even better. Gets way better in later seasons too. I'm watching season 5 at the minute and its priceless. Steve Carell is great but there are so many hilarious people in the american one. English comedy is first class but for once i think the yanks have done it better. Well, can't really say the yanks since gervais created it.

love this show, now showing season 5 in the states (watched ep11 last night)

Brilliant characters and I think I now like it more than the UK office (which I thought was brilliant)

Jim and Dwight's relationship is so funny

agreed, dwight is amazing. And jim is hilarious too. Plus pam is way hotter than the english version!

Great deal for a fantastic programme. Though the first season isn't as strong as the rest, from Season 2 onwards it becomes essential viewing and much funnier than the English version - the feel of the show is very different, I feel, more sitcom-like than the original.

The first two seasons of the USA office was terrible, this was because they were trying too hard and using the British script, and it just did not work.

The seasons after when they went in their own direction where brilliant I have to admit, they done much better when they were not following our script and trying to make it like ours, americans trying to copy a British show is just kinda of cringe worthy.

I like the US version too. I prefer Jim's character compared to Tim. Didn't like it at first, but get past the first few episodes and it is great. Still waiting for series 4 on DVD (R2).

I agree the first episode of the first series was a rip off of the UK one and some of the later episodes used bits of the UK one, but the second series? That all appeared new to me.

Great find, didn't want to fork out much for this DVD as it's not as good as the later seasons, but need it to complete the collection! No one should base their opinion on the series on this season (especially not the first episode), I was a huge fan of the UK version, but I'm in total agreement with all saying that the US version ends up being even better!

IMO much better than the UK one. Much funnier and characters have more dimension to them.

Dwight is brilliant.

Well spotted mate.

I've only seen the first couple of seasons of this I think. I liked them so I think its time to get on the web and get the later series to watch. Didn't realise they had made that many - cheers!

Top show. Season 5 on in the US at the moment and as good as ever.

I know 3 people at work who scoffed at the idea of a us version but have now seen the light and love it.

I'm another big fan of this series and am watching at the US broadcast rate.

However I cannot vote this as Hot as there are only 6 episodes in Season 1 which equates to
83p an episode. As said above, season 1 is easily the weakest season and I wouldn't recommend it to someone as a good example of the series - 2 and 3 are sooo much better.
Season 1 to 3 complete can be picked up for under £34 and at 52 episodes equates to approx 65p per episode.

Not voted.

Excellent series. I was worried when i heard they were making an American version but it's really superb.

Have to say i think Gareth is better than Dwight though

Fair play, you've put some thought into that. I agree.

But then, if you don't watch season 1, you don't get the full build up of the characters. I saw some episodes of season 2 first and didn't follow them as well, as I kept trying to see Jim as Tim and Dwight as Gareth, when these two characters are quite different to the UK ones. It made more sense after watching season 1, as the characters were developed from scratch.

Indeed. I'm not saying don't buy season one. I'm saying
1. I wouldn't recommend buying it on it's own if you are not sure whether you will like the series as it is not a true reflection of the quality of the programme.
2. It's more economical to buy season 1 to 3 complete than season one on it's own

Anyone know where I can buy the other boxsets for good prices?
