Also available from ASDA (ONLINE) and Lovefilm from same price. However seeing as Asda gave me a parking ticket the other day I thought I'd market thehut on this occassion.

PS This is for the PC and you shouldn't vote cold simply because you think its "better" on the PS3 or XBOX360. I am not going to go out and buy a new game console just so I can play a better port.

And rightly so.

Half life was designed for the PC originally, and is still the best on it.

This is a brilliant price, should be hotter.

Rep added.

thanks.

A great game, an average game and three medicore ones. Consider getting portal alone off steam if you don't have much time to play games (I believe it's about £12) but for this little extra the others are worth having.

or "gift" HL2 and ep 1 if you already have it to a mate for a fiver and it becomes cheaper than one alone off steam.

Ah, that explains why my Asda deal was pulled...but this didn't show up under search....same price at Asda with quidco as well...voted Hot, because I ordered this.

It was a duplicate. ]I posted the original early this morning. As I acknowledged in my post though, this is the better deal if you use Quidco.

Are you the type of person that likes yearly updates of Need for Speed?

Half Life 2, Episode 1 and 2 are all awesome surely? Portal is quirky and cool, and TF2 is really good fun! Pity I bought this on Steam only a couple of weeks ago when it was 30 quid >.

Thank You Great Find :-))

TF2 is one of my favourite games at the moment. Voted hot. Great price!

I bought this a while ago, and it took over an hour to install it which is just too long to begin with. The good news is that even on my ancient PC it still ran pretty well, although the frequent loading times are very off-putting. Seemed like a fairly decent FPS, although I preferred Far Cry myself.

What really put me off this game was Steam. Everytime I switched on my PC it wanted to connect to the internet through Zone Alarms, and I just reached the point where it wasn't worth having the game on my PC, as it was taking so long for it start-up whilst it kept trying to connect. If you've got a speedy PC with a speedy connection then it's probably fine, but on a PC over 3 years old like mine, Steam's constant badgering to connect to the internet is damn annoying.

Decent game, terrible installation and even worse it uses Steam.

I'd sell you my copy for a few pence, but it'll be worthless cos of the security it uses.

Yeah, that's a decent UK price for this (although having said that, I bought mine from YesAsia in November for £16 - it was the Hong Kong version with 'bonus' Counterstrike Disc but works fine).

Team Fortress is amazing, as is Portal - it was worth the asking price just for that

No, I can't say I've ever played need for speed. Or any game that has yearly updates really.

]£25.93 from TheHut seems to be the best right now.

Don't forget you can get 5% Quidco on that, and if you add something to the order, there is ]a voucher for 10% off £30.

A wonderful bargain. I bought it in December & was more than happy with the price then.

In my opinion, every single game in this box is a classic. And at this price, it really ought to be mandatory to purchase.

voted HOT!

Because of the negative feedback around for the hut, cancelled my orders and reordered from Asda....but, I think the Asda site is run by thehut, the order process was exactly the same and apart from the logos the screens looked identical...makes you think

Remember this is largely a three and a half year old game, it'll run on a lower spec system and it'll run on windows 2000.

Processor

* Intel Core Duo Processor T2600
* 2.16-GHz
* 2-MB L2 cache
* 667-MHz FSB
* Intel Centrino Duo processor technology – enabled

Chipset

* Mobile Intel 945GME Express Chipset

Memory

* 1024-MB 533/667-MHz,
* DDR2 SDRAM
* Two SODIMM slots
* Supported memory 2 GB

Drives

* 120-GB 5400 rpm
* SMART SATA
* DVD+/-RW SuperMulti DL Drive

Software

* Genuine Windows Vista Basic 32
Graphics and Audio

* Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, up to 224-MB shared system memory
* Audio Conexant CX20549

Would it run on that?

Sweetchinmusic, unfortunately it will not run on that laptop (HP 530 I'm guessing) as it only has integrated graphics.

It needs a dedicated graphics card like a ]8600M GT (or better recommended), & ideally another 512Mb-1Gb RAM as it's Vista.

It's a standard FPS with the occasional good bit but which generally just seemed contrived and predictable. The combat isn't anything special and the gravity gun is mostly just a gun that fires random projectiles. I should add that I played this for the first time back in november when I got the orange box.

To me, the HL2 series was aimed more at teenage boys, especially with the "chick" sidekick in various parts of the game which annoyed me more than anything else - even if she does have a fine chassis. :oops:

I still played all of the variants but the last installment, HL2 EP1 was just going through the motions on my part..

Notable fps games (for me) in recent years have been:

Far Cry
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
C.O.D.4

This looks like another thehut special...delayed....so cancelled and ordered from shopto for £16.99 - lose a bit of quidco (get some back from shopto but not as much) and a whole 106 english pennies more, but should get early next week...good luck to everyone else though.

Valve collects technical data about the computers that are running Half Life 2. They have punlised the results ]here. It gives a good indication of thw systems people are using.

I tried to cancel, and they tell me they have despatched it.
