"Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound, this amazing stranger from the planet Krypton, the Man of Steel - Superman."

"Possessing remarkable physical strength, Superman fights a never-ending battle for Truth and Justice, disguised as a mild mannered newspaper reporter, Clark Kent."

Launched in September 1941 with the release of 'Superman', these cartoons were produced by max Fleischer at the Fleischer Studios in Florida. These innovative science fiction spectaculars remain among the most technically polished examples of the "animated short film" art form. The films move at a fast pace, with cuts coming faster and faster towards the climaxes, propelled by Sammy Timberg's dynamic musical scores. Special effects involving fires, rays, and explosions set the screen ablaze. The first film in the collection was nominated for an Academy Award.
