i for one wont bother wasting my money, after all the hype, turned out to be a load of toss. Will just re-watch Band of Brothers again. Good price though if you was the 1 person that enjoyed it, everyone i know who watched it also said it was a load of toss....

I liked it, nowhere near as good as BoB but a hell of a lot better than most tv.

Will be picking it up when it hits £20-£25

I thought it was extremely good. I'm yet to watch BoB, so with the amount of people who say how much better it is than the Pacific, I expect to be blown away by it tbh!

Still, I'd never spend £30 on a TV series, no matter what format or how good. Wait until it goes down to the £20 mark, at the least.

I wouldn't buy it for half that price. It was dung and I stopped watching it at Episode 6 through lack of interest.

Thats a shame as the last 4 episodes really showed how brutal that part of the war became.I for one put it just behind BoB but like someone else said it was a million times better than most of the crap we get served up.

Yes, it was a real disappointment... if you've NOT seen BoB then it's probably fine, but side by side BoB blows it away (literally!).

I'll no doubt pick the Blu Ray up at some point, but not until it's a tenner or something in a years time

I've been looking at this after I recently took a risk on buying BoB (never seen it before) and I loved it so was assuming this would be brilliant too so thanks for the heads up guys!

Yep, it was over-hyped sh1te

BoB is different league mate.
BoB = Premiership
The Pacific = Sunday League.

Band of Brothers was much easier to understand, more sentimental, more motive and more traditional.

Pacific was a different beast. It go across the randomness of war and the fight just to survive, but there wasnt a really coherent plot which made it harder to sympathise.

Damian Lewis did a brilliant job in BoB and they were helped by great plot events such as the landings, Eagles nest, Bastogne and he concentration camps. I think Pacific was good in its own way, but BoB was just more memorable.

OH

I'll buy it as the companion set to BoB when it's down to £15 or so.
But I'm another who has been very disappointed by this one.
Nothing like as good a series as the original, much to my surprise & disappointment.

Having watched Band of Brothers like over 10 times, I thought I would love the pacific, It was hard to connect to characters as the makers said what they were trying to do. I found it confusing to keep track of who got injured or killed and how they got from A to B. The show very much seems thrown into places and could of been done so much more better then trying to ram so much in a mini series. I've read the book that came out on release of the series and it made the series abit more clearer but other then that, I felt I kinda wasted a fair bit of viewing time.
1-6 rather boring, kinda slow, nothing easy to keep track of. 6+ Gets good more interesting, But again hard to keep track.

I would watch it again, but it will gather alot more dust then BoB.

I found most [*] of the episodes pretty good, well written and well presented. Where it all goes wrong is when you put all of the episodes together ... there seemed to be no clear direction. Like yourself, I found it difficult to keep a tabs on who was what, doing what and who, and who was now maggot food.
If The Pacific came on Sky again, I'd probably watch it. But I certainly wouldn't bother buying it.
Band Of Brothers, I most definitely ain't !!!

[*] Sadly a couple of the episodes were utter drivel.

BoB did its job so well you hardly noticed. You got to know and recognise all the characters through basic training. As a result that scene in the laundry post D-Day where one guy picks up all his dead comrades' stuff, and the scene in the French church where the dead men fade away, were incredibly moving.

They tried to take a different approach in Pacific, getting almost straight into the action, but frankly they would have been better off aping BoB. It was hard to get into Pacific because I for one couldn't tell the characters apart and consequently never got to care about them. The last ep I saw one character went missing in a firefight and was found later dead. His friends wept for him. But I was just trying to figure out who he was.

Of course, they said the same thing about the actual war in the Pacific! No-one at home knew what the heck was going on or even where. The war in Europe was easier to follow. Do you know, I think the filmmakers were trying to echo that. But it was a bad move.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.BOB's is probably the best thing I have ever seen on either tv or film, whereas this was awful.Big freeze from me.

I do hope they make another mini series, but Would maybe be worth taking a german side approach or another allies force.
It would be a shame to end it all on something that didn't live up to hype at all.

The trouble here is that people are directly comparing The Pacific to Band of Brothers instead of taking it on it's own merit. There is hardly a post above that mentions it without the comparison.

Band of Brothers was more about the group of men making up Easy Company and the relationship and camaradarie as much as the war they were fighting. The Pacific was pretty much about the actual pacific theatre with only the 3 main characters story threads running through the series. The film makers took a totally different approach to the second series otherwise it may just as well have been called Band of Brothers 2!

Granted, The Pacific took a little while to get going and in my opinion it wasn't until I think episode 5 when they reached Peleliu that it really took off but the series on it's own merit was fantastic.

No it wasn't that bad at all, you guys have to remember its drama, not action/adventure.

You are suppose to let the characters and they struggle with the horrors of war guide you though, not the explosions and gun battles.

Its clearly a more mature series.

(_;)

As been said, not a patch of BOB, but seriously more decent than half the **** on TV these days so will buy it at somepoint, but I got the BOB Blu-Ray tin for £15, I will expect to see this down there also.

Might stick BOB on right now, little bit of Bastonge!
